Happy New Year to one and all - I am sure people in other parts of the world have already passed midnight. It is 8pm here and all is well. I had a nice dinner here and watched a comedy show (Bob Marley from Maine) and right now I am tuning into CNN to see what is happening in NYC. It all seems pretty low key all around. Seems like the right way to say goodbye to this year. Be bye 2020 - don't let the door hit you on the way out.

Earlier today - I took a nice walk through Berkeley - up to the historic Claremont Hotel - it is a good, strenuous uphill walk so I am doing that for exercise right now. It takes about an hour round trip so that is a good amount of walking. I try to do that every day. I really need more activity so this is what I am doing. I hope to keep doing this when I am working from home and will set my schedule so I can do this.

I found a coupon for a free cup of coffee from my favorite cafe - so I went out and got that. I got a latte with it - those are spendy and might as well use the free coffee card for something that is worth it. So that was nice. I found that when I was de-cluttering around here. Bonus. I also found a couple of gift cards with money on them so that was good too. Not too bad.

So this is me for the New Year - just hanging out with the cats. I will probably go to bed early. I never make it to midnight.

I want to wish you all a very Happy New Year and hopefully we are on to better times. Much love to you.

Making it through the quarantine Christmas. Opened presents on my own - got nice things. Had a nice Christmas Eve meal of take out Thai food last night and will have the left overs today for dinner so that is not too bad. I was going to get Chinese food but there was a huge line at that place and was not in the mood to deal with that. I do believe the Thai restaurant is actually better so am very pleased with the food. No problem there.

My family did a Zoom call today and that was kind of fun. We actually got my parents on Zoom and they are in their 80's. Amazing that they can do the new technology - my Dad was totally with it and rocked it. My Mom was really glad we did the Zoom and it made her feel like we were all together when we could not be. So it all really worked. This is what you do when there is a global pandemic happening. It all worked.

I have been drinking coffee all day and I watched the new Wonder Woman film (WW84). I have HBO Max free with my phone service. I love the Wonder Woman franchise and I hope they do more of these films. We need films with female super heroes - so I loved the film -flaws and all. It was a pleasure to watch.

It is raining here today so it is a day to stay in the jammies and watch movies or programs and drink coffee. Seems ok.

Hope all is well with you where you are and Merry Christmas to you. Stay safe and healthy!

Philz Coffee
Berkeley, CA (North Berkeley, Shattuck Ave)
Restaurant review

Basic info:
Coffee place with locations in SF, South Bay. You order your coffee and they make it for you, adding the cream and sugar for you.

This is a fun, very hip coffee shop with excellent coffee. I got a little coffee therapy as the barista helped me figure out what I really wanted. I had the tesora on ice with cream and sugar. He made it up for me, it was delicious and the coffee could stand up to being iced. A lot of coffee weakens too much when you ice it but not this stuff. Holds up to that. Friendly atmosphere here and really great coffee. The people who work here really love it and know their product well enough to consult with people coming in. A true find. I will go back there and add it into my coffee circuit.

With amazon dollars...

I got myself a Keurig coffee maker. I am super happy with it and it is so easy to use. No more coffee grounds all over the counter...no more fumbling around. No more coffee coordination and kettle. Snap the thing in there and brew the one cup that I need in the morning. Way to brew. Upon the sage counsel of aglarien1 who also has one. It really is a snap and in the morning, I need my coffee to be easy.

Anyhoo. I am still under the weather and tired. Fighting off the plague that is effecting everyone at work. This is the problem with where I work. Large government public building and exposure to all sorts of germs etc. I feel like we keep passing illness back and forth at the office so uggles. Constant headache and aches. I am dragging.

Taking it day by day.

Blurb-manner update - quick!

-I was able to walk home from work a few times this week. Tendon is on the mend. Yays!
-I got my suitcase unpacked, finally!
-I got word that the people I interviewed with are calling my refs. Good sign but standard procedure. I think the field is very competitive for this one.
-My cat is affectionate and needy. Aww. She even sat on the TV stand in front of the picture to be sure I SAW her. LOL.
-Going to lunch and movies (POTC) with friend from work, R****. That will be fun.
-My apartment needs cleaning. Gah. Better do that. Dust bunnies hopping madly.
-I love coffee, just saying.

Hope all is well with you and your weekend is going great! Nice weather here. More tomorrow. First week of summer, yays!

So check out my profile and the totally appropo v-gift that [livejournal.com profile] lotrangel17 sent me today. For those of you who saw Office Space. "This is me expressing MYSELF..."

Today is another day and brings with it a whole new host of "opportunities". I once had a boss back when I had a job in marketing that I affectionately termed my FIRST FUCK...who used to like to say there were no problems, only opportunities.

I would tell you the name of the company but that would be telling too much. Suffice to say the word first was in the title and it was the first word of the company name. It so fit too. That place was a wreck. When I walked out of there it was with my head held high and a bounce in my step. I quit...and now that company is no longer but here I am. He he he. I did do some fun writing there and got my feet wet in the business world. Wet enough to know I did not want to work in the private sector.

And yet I digress.

I just spent the last few hours moving my stuff into my living room. There it sits in piles. I cannot sit on the couch. Why, you ask?

Well I am getting new carpet in the bedroom and hallway tomorrow. I have to move all the stuff into the living room. The cat is TOTALLY freaked out. Cats hate it when you move things. It gets them wiggy.

I am very pleased with the new carpet thing as the old one is stained and stinky but I am not all that pleased with this process. I really want servants to do this but alas, I hath none. I am just about done here and almost everything is moved...the installers will move the bed, thank goodness.

And still...I am rambling. Must have been that espresso I got on the way home.

Not those. Get your mind out of the gutter.

Coffee drinks. And this is why.

I go to the holiday lunch. The service is slow so I don't have time to get coffee there so I am hurrying back but have just enough time to stop at this new cafe on the way back and get me a latte. I order a "tall". The word is in quotes for a reason.

They gave me this ginormous coffee which anywhere else would have been the "large" or "vente". At my other cafe the "tall" is a "medium". I was not expecting this MUNGOID coffee. I am going to be hyper all night. And no, I am not hyper now. I have only had two sips of it. And no, I did not have wine with lunch. I had a coke. So mebbe I am spazzing from the sugar. That well could be. Oh la.

Yes, this post is about beverages.

These are the things that matter. These are the important things.

Today just kicked my ass. I worked all the doodle all day but I did manage to get some writing done for my elves. I am just so frigging tired.

#27: I am thankful that I have found new motivation at work and am able to improve my work performance. It feels good to do a good job and get the recognition for it. *nod nod*

Time to cook dinner. Something easy and filling.

This is late as I was in a snit yesterday. Sorry. Today is better already.

#6: Thanks be that they are opening a Peet's Coffee right up the street from my house. Now I can be a coffee junkie all I want and get my chai tea's without driving. I can get fresh ground coffee by walking a few blocks and go hang out with the other coffee junkies. O.o

Oh boy.

In the wake of the controversy over the dodgy photo I posted yesterday of Orlie, I am posting something a little more natural of him. He still fine, folks. This will not be a regular weekly happening but I felt obligated to follow up with a more realistic shot of him. Here is your special Mensday postie.

Orlie looking real... )

In other news, my barista loves me. He gave me a large latte when I ordered a medium. I think he has a crush on me. Heee. I shall take full advantage.
