I am back from the East Coast and came home to find that my apartment was in great shape and my cat had been combed. She was calm and well fed and tended. I was so happy with my choice of cat sitter. Very good. Anyone in the Bay Area should let me know. I would recommend my person to anyone who needs in home cat care. Ya.
The following is a comment/opinion on recent issues...
Fandom related issues...
So I have seen things going on in fandom circles and some of them have related to a comment that I made. The comment I made was specifically to two people and in no way was meant to be a statement on the fandom. It was meant in light hearted fun as a response to their comments about certain things (specifically the first age and a lack of interest in it). I will not go into great detail but I will say this...
There is room enough in this fandom, specifically LOTR but I will expand that to mean any fandom that one might write in, for all kinds of writing, be it romantic, of a certain pairing, of a serious nature, BDSM, fluff, slash, het, comic--name your poison. I think that making critical comments about someone's writing of a derogatory and non-constructive nature is hurtful. We all have different tastes and in fandom fanfic writing there is an audience for just about everything. To go back to some seventies ideas that I was brought up on--different strokes for different folks. If you don't like a certain style of writing, that is fine, you don't have to read it but don't defame someone for what they choose to write. Think of how it would feel if someone did that to you, for a story that you spent a lot of time working on.
So...the comment I made was the starting point for this set of comments (now deleted) and I said something about E-G stories being written infinitim. I am not pleased that my comment was the spring board for a rant about writers. I later in that comment conversation admitted that I would myself write that pairing if they spoke to me and retracted my earlier statements. I also should admit that I do read that pairing. So...I meant no insult. I spout off occasionally and should think more before I do.
There have been lovely meme's on our friendslist about the fandom lately where we have been getting to know about each other and how we came into the fandom and our likes and dislikes. I think that we should embrace the differences that there are in our writing as that presents more variety to select from. I will stress the point, there is room for everyone but there is no need to be hurtful.
I hope that this is helpful in some way and clarifies a little bit about how I feel about the fandom. I have a lot of respect for the other writers in the LOTR fandom and other fandoms too. I came into it late and feel like I am always catching up.
I apologize if my comments in anyway started anything or insulted anyone. I enjoy a variety of stories.
Thanks for reading and comments are welcome.

Mar. 5th, 2008 06:42 pmSo check out my profile and the totally appropo v-gift that
lotrangel17 sent me today. For those of you who saw Office Space. "This is me expressing MYSELF..."
Today is another day and brings with it a whole new host of "opportunities". I once had a boss back when I had a job in marketing that I affectionately termed my FIRST FUCK...who used to like to say there were no problems, only opportunities.
I would tell you the name of the company but that would be telling too much. Suffice to say the word first was in the title and it was the first word of the company name. It so fit too. That place was a wreck. When I walked out of there it was with my head held high and a bounce in my step. I quit...and now that company is no longer but here I am. He he he. I did do some fun writing there and got my feet wet in the business world. Wet enough to know I did not want to work in the private sector.
And yet I digress.
I just spent the last few hours moving my stuff into my living room. There it sits in piles. I cannot sit on the couch. Why, you ask?
Well I am getting new carpet in the bedroom and hallway tomorrow. I have to move all the stuff into the living room. The cat is TOTALLY freaked out. Cats hate it when you move things. It gets them wiggy.
I am very pleased with the new carpet thing as the old one is stained and stinky but I am not all that pleased with this process. I really want servants to do this but alas, I hath none. I am just about done here and almost everything is moved...the installers will move the bed, thank goodness.
And still...I am rambling. Must have been that espresso I got on the way home.

Oct. 10th, 2006 08:48 pmSo I spoil my cat though this purchase was really for safety reasons. She had a dangerous habit of sleeping on top of the stove so
khylea brilliantly suggested that I get her a heated cat bed. Beaucoup bucks later....
Ms. Thing in her tuffet....
( Spoiled rotten... )
*mushes her*
