And spent my first night of it doing laundry. Really exciting but had to be done. I had to clean the linens for my house guest, [livejournal.com profile] khylea who arrives tomorrow afternoon and then the real fun can commence.

Tomorrow the bathroom gets fixed and all will be well. Living without the toilet has been a challenge. That is an important thing to be without. Really a PIA. I am considering prorating my rent down to cover the days that my apartment was not functioning properly. I should just do that to compensate myself for this. Ridiculous. I feel like I should get a break on the rent because of this.

Oh and work - I cannot tell you. People decide they can do all this last minute stuff the day that I have to go on vacation and was trying to prepare for that. I really felt like I hated everyone today and really needed a break. Unbelievable.

Anyhoo. Think good thoughts that they can fix the pipes.

Hope all is well with you and you have a great weekend.

I got an email from Bill Clinton while he was speaking at the Democratic National Convention. That is a nifty trick. La. Neato. More on the clothing choices at the convention. Elizabeth Warren wore that royal blue color - very typical outfit, blazery ensemble but the color did look good on her, nothing standout about it. She did a competent job speaking. I found myself not really listening to her that much. She is in a Senate race and I wish her well.

I found myself thinking tonight, that I would have elected Bill Clinton as President again if it were not for those pesky term limits. I really think he was effective in that job. He was good. Even with his catastrophes in his personal life and that little Lewinsky thing - he was very effective and he is still effective. Funny thought that.

On Clinton's speech tonight. He is pulling things out of Barack Obama's record and making interesting points - about his appointments of Republicans to key positions, opponents and the like. Constructive collaboration is the theme on all of this - that is how Obama works. Great way to highlight the strength of the President and he is doing more...partnership over partisanship on national security...and more.

I love his analysis of the Republican convention and what they did not say there - that they want to shelter the wealthier Americans from paying taxes, increase military spending by more than the Pentagon is asking and cut programs for children and low income people.

I also like Clinton's point that economic recovery is slow going and that Obama started with a weaker economy than he did. No President could have repaired the damage in this time. The foundation has been laid. I am not an economist, I am just paraphrasing the points in this speech. There is some logic to it.

Anyways. My toilet is turned off because there is a leak in a pipe to the apartment downstairs. It won't be fixed until Saturday. Augh! AUGH! I am serious. Very inconvenient.

My vacation starts on Saturday. I cannot wait and work is annoying. I do need time off. [livejournal.com profile] khylea is coming to visit and we will do fun things. Yays!

This post is longer than I planned. If you read it, thanks!

New material on the "We Love Guys" site. This makes me happy as I was running out of material on my stomping grounds. This one is pleasing to the eye, and that is for sure.

*Not safe for work!*

Here he is! )

In other news...

Hope you all changed your clocks. It is the fall back thing. So extra sleep. I love that.

Today, I am going to get my nails done and then I have this empowerment yoga workshop for the afternoon. I am finding it really good. It combines some group work and the yoga thing. Really good activity. This meeting is our long 5 hour one so woo.

I am getting more comfortable with the new dresser here so that is working out. Adjusting.

Also--to let those of you know who know my graphics work, I am taking the month of November off from that due to neck and shoulder strain and will be back doing that in December if I heal up well.

Cheers and hope you all had a good weekend.

So my old dresser had a massive crack that kept getting bigger running right through the top of it. That old bureau had a story. I got that in college at some collectibles store in Somerville, MA for like $25.00. I think it was my junior year when I moved to my first apartment. So I have had that thing for 25 years. That is pretty good. It was beaten up when I got it and certainly looked beaten up today. So my handy man took it to the dump since it was about to disintegrate.

Now I have shiny new dresser...I got it from a friend at work for $30.00, a really good deal on this one too but this is in really good shape. I am still getting used to it but all my stuff fits with extra room. So I am happy.

I thought I would share pics as I was really attached to the old dresser (RIP).

Dressers old and new...this way... )

I guess I am all grown up and should let go of that old thing. It is weird to let things like that go.

But the apartment is in complete disarray and I am determined to go through all the things I moved and throw away a good portion of things. I mean I have 8-10 fleecy jackets. Why do I need so many fleece jackets? I don't really know? I just don't think I do. I am going to clean thinks out and take some things to Good Will.

THe carpeting is a deep, rich coffee color. I just love it AND my new dust ruffle (which I got years ago at a Macy's sale) goes perfectly with it. We put it on the bed last night when it was being moved back and voila...I have a perfectly coordinated bedroom. I feel like I have a whole new place here. Woo.

So I have been stressed at work so I am taking Moanday off. I also feel like my back and neck are not as much better as they should be so I am going to rest them this weekend. And extra day of R&R and I have chiro on Moanday too. A good plan.

I will take pics of the new carpet as soon as I vaccum it. O.o

Huzzah!

So check out my profile and the totally appropo v-gift that [livejournal.com profile] lotrangel17 sent me today. For those of you who saw Office Space. "This is me expressing MYSELF..."

Today is another day and brings with it a whole new host of "opportunities". I once had a boss back when I had a job in marketing that I affectionately termed my FIRST FUCK...who used to like to say there were no problems, only opportunities.

I would tell you the name of the company but that would be telling too much. Suffice to say the word first was in the title and it was the first word of the company name. It so fit too. That place was a wreck. When I walked out of there it was with my head held high and a bounce in my step. I quit...and now that company is no longer but here I am. He he he. I did do some fun writing there and got my feet wet in the business world. Wet enough to know I did not want to work in the private sector.

And yet I digress.

I just spent the last few hours moving my stuff into my living room. There it sits in piles. I cannot sit on the couch. Why, you ask?

Well I am getting new carpet in the bedroom and hallway tomorrow. I have to move all the stuff into the living room. The cat is TOTALLY freaked out. Cats hate it when you move things. It gets them wiggy.

I am very pleased with the new carpet thing as the old one is stained and stinky but I am not all that pleased with this process. I really want servants to do this but alas, I hath none. I am just about done here and almost everything is moved...the installers will move the bed, thank goodness.

And still...I am rambling. Must have been that espresso I got on the way home.

So I have been dealing with my tenant issue and I spent a personal day off talking to legal advisers and the rent board. This is what we came up with--my legal response. My major WERK.

Here it is in its entirety. I am quite proud of this bit of writing and I did have help from the Rent Board of Berkeley staff.

Oh hell no... )

Shall I say it again...HELL NO!

Sent in triplicate and file copy kept for my records. :P

So my landlord is trying to get me to move out because he wants to make capital improvements AND he wants to now charge me a security deposit when it was previously refunded to me. I have checked this all out with the Rent Stabilization Board. A legal letter from the Community Law Center will go to him and I am going to take legal action now. I was also advised that because he has acted in a harrassing manner to three, now probably four of the tenants here, that we have the basis of a very good punitive damages law suit. I am ready to go for the jugular.

Here is what I wrote in an email to the other tenants here:

I am telling you. I have had a very stressful day. I was home sick and I am mightily pissed off. I want to nail this guy to the wall.

I am really angry. You don't want to get me angry.

This is like therapy, yes? He he he. Our perv session. I did some trawling today and came up with some new material from one of my favorites, Dylan Ricci. I found some photographs I had not seen. I like to keep it fresh here.

Diaphanous Cloth... )

In other news--There was an elf meeting yesterday and I met up with the ever lovely, ever vivacious [livejournal.com profile] jaiden and spouse. We traipsed around this area for a little bit and had a snacketo. I showed them my hood and the Uni. It was loads of fun and it was great to meet her. All too short but very nice to do. We did take a picture but that is on their camera and will be posted once she gets home. *weeeeeeee*

I have to report that I have been doing a bit of organizing and cleaning here at the ponderosa and it has paid off. I got 6 humongous storage bins at the Homes Desperate (Janespeak for Home Depot) and I was determined to clean out this place. I threw out 3 large trash bags of junk and then organized stuff. I tell you, it is a fabulous feeling. I feel like I can actually think in here now. I'd had stuff piled everywhere and behind the sofa, well NO MAS. It is all in these bins and organized. *nod*

I have conquered!!!! *rebel yell*

Today, I was supposed to go to Sebastopol but I don't know what is going on. I think that has been cancelled. That is good as I have writing I want to do.

So that is it for me today. Have a good Sunday!
