Rain here - and we always need rain here in California so I like it when it rains. I am here in the house trying to decide if I want to go food shopping. I think I do. I need to do a quick run to Safeway and get some items so I will do that shortly. I am out of things for lunches so better go get some things and snacks. Will brave the rain for snacks.

I heard Biden talk about his progress with the pandemic and he has made progress. The vaccination rate has increased by a lot - he hit his number of 100 million people vaccinated in the first 100 days - he did better than he said he would so that is good. Things are looking up. I have been in the house for days so I am still in pandemic mode. Not quite ready to open here. I guess my mindset will take a while to change. I am not quite there yet. I am glad things are getting better but we have variants to worry about and I am concerned that things are opening too soon. Will we have another surge like Italy did and have to lockdown again? These are the things that I think about. I guess you could say I am a worrier. I get paid to worry about things going wrong for a living as an event planner - so that is how my mind works.

I am curious about what other people think. How will we know when the pandemic is over? Who calls it? I think Fauci should. He is usually right about these things.

Anyhoo. Today's musings. That is about all I have. I am sure crossposting will not work so I will have to double post this entry. What a drag. I have opened tickets about that and LJ was pretty non-cooperative on it.

Hope you are well and staying healthy there. Ciao.

Tomorrow!

Got my appointment reminder to my email tonight. I was worried my appointment would be canceled but it was not. The mission is a go for tomorrow. Pfizer vaccine second dose. Yes. Very happy about it. My friend, J**** has an appointment on the same day so we are going to go together. They don't seem too worried about what time people show up so we think it will be ok. Soon I will be fully immunized for covid19. It takes some weeks to get to full protection so will still need to be careful. I also still think I will be careful even with the vaccine. Not going to stop wearing masks when I go out and all that.

I love Fridays. I got some things done at work and went out a bit today. Went out in the morning to the bagel place in Oakland, House of Bagels and bought some bagels for the weekend. Got some cream cheese too. Also stopped at Colonial Donuts which is right up the street and had me a donut. So good. So that was fun. Then this afternoon, I went out to Lakeshore in Oakland with my friend, J**** and we looked in store windows and got a hotdog at Top Dog. We have been talking about Top Dog for months and finally got one. It was delicious. I got a bratwurst. Yum. Are you finding the pandemic is all about the food? Today was about food for me? I wanted to eat what I really wanted today. Some days are like that and today was like that.

So tomorrow. Very exciting and will report on those side effects. I guess that is different for everyone. Will see how I do.

Hope all is well with you and they say those stimulus payments might hit this weekend. Who knows?

I don't really care who wins this year - I don't have any stake in the game - none of my teams are in it. I think it is amazing that Tom Brady has made it into his tenth game so that is something. I usually watch it and take a nap during the game and I love to watch the half time show. I don't know who is doing it this year but it is usually big and fun so that is something. Amanda Gorman is going to read at the Super Bowl so I am excited about that. She is the Youth Poet Laureate who read at Biden's Inaugural. So that is worth seeing.

I have seen story after story asking people not to get together for the Super Bowl and you know that people are going to have parties and this is going to be a spreader event. We have failed every test so far on this. People just have to get together. They cannot help themselves. Pandemic be damned they are going to get together. I am going to watch the game by myself in my own home with my game day snacks here. But I think people are going to get together and a football game lasts for hours so that is a good way to spread covid. Be in a room for hours with someone watching football.

I hope I am wrong but I don't think I am - we have failed every spreader test so far so why would this be any different. I don't even like football but I do watch the Super Bowl every year. I like to see the advertising around the game - that is usually very creative.

Anyhoo - those are my thoughts on this very American thing - the Super Bowl. There will be a surge in cases after this.

Making it through the quarantine Christmas. Opened presents on my own - got nice things. Had a nice Christmas Eve meal of take out Thai food last night and will have the left overs today for dinner so that is not too bad. I was going to get Chinese food but there was a huge line at that place and was not in the mood to deal with that. I do believe the Thai restaurant is actually better so am very pleased with the food. No problem there.

My family did a Zoom call today and that was kind of fun. We actually got my parents on Zoom and they are in their 80's. Amazing that they can do the new technology - my Dad was totally with it and rocked it. My Mom was really glad we did the Zoom and it made her feel like we were all together when we could not be. So it all really worked. This is what you do when there is a global pandemic happening. It all worked.

I have been drinking coffee all day and I watched the new Wonder Woman film (WW84). I have HBO Max free with my phone service. I love the Wonder Woman franchise and I hope they do more of these films. We need films with female super heroes - so I loved the film -flaws and all. It was a pleasure to watch.

It is raining here today so it is a day to stay in the jammies and watch movies or programs and drink coffee. Seems ok.

Hope all is well with you where you are and Merry Christmas to you. Stay safe and healthy!

and this is the most I have posted on the blog in so long. I kind of like posting. I should do it more. Maybe this should be a thing. I really have missed this community and I hope there are people here to read this. I got some stuff done today around the house - sold some DVD's - went out and got cat treats for my cat Bear because I have to have those - opened some boxes - I feel like I am always opening boxes and breaking down boxes. Major receiving of stuff here - I do a lot of that. More than I used to before the pandemic - I am getting more packages. Do you find that.

Also today - I was walking home from the record store and crossing a street - there was a couple and their dog walking in front of me - and seriously - a car almost hit them in the cross walk. I feel like there is this pandemic driving thing happening. People are driving like maniacs and are not following the rules of the road. At least once when I am out driving - I see someone blow through a stop sign or a red light - like they don't even have to stop. And people are driving really fast on the roads. I feel like people feel like it is the apocalypse and they can just drive however they want now or something. It seems to be a thing - it is happening enough that I am noticing. Pandemic driving. It is totally a thing.

Anyway - here is the menorah for tonight - three candles plus the shammash (middle candle) for the third crazy night. Hope all is well with you and stay safe and healthy!
