Hey all - I am posting in for the holidays early as next week will be very busy. I have failed this year so far in my intent to post more regularly but I hope to make up for that in the new year with weekly posts. I did do my Hanukkah posting so that is something. Here is the upshot of what is going on - I am doing well with maintaining the weight loss. I am keeping up with the WW thing and I go to my weekly meetings and still track every day. I think that is important for now and mean to keep that up. I like to go each week and just weigh in and stay on it. I am sure I will always have to watch things and I cannot ever go back to how I used to eat before. I feel better eating this way and love how I look. So that is going great. I need to get back on my work outs. I took a long break from that so I signed up for the Workfit classes in the new year and will get on that.

I am bored at work but doing ok with that. I am steady on with it and I have a good job. I am casually looking for something new and had nibbles on my resume when I applied for a few things. Just that the salaries were too low. Like 20K too low so I could not do it. That would have been nuts. I am going to see what I can do to make my job more exciting. Go to trainings and take classes. So see what I can do on that. I need to not relax so much and be boring. Some of that is on me. So I am cleaning up my office and organizing my files and getting ready for a nice new year.

I am spending Christmas with my family on the East Coast and my brother will be home for deployment and my mom is making Christmas cookies so it will be fun. I am looking forward to seeing some old friends and just hanging out there. We are going to see A Christmas Carol and possibly Aquaman. So that should be fun too.

So I vow to be more around in the new year. I signed up for Slashy Valentine this time around too so you will see me moan and groan about that too.

Happy holidays to all of you there. Happy New Year too. This year can just die already. I am looking forward to new things in 2019 and Trump being impeached in 2019 too. I still hate him. So he can go too.

Merry Christmas to all and have a safe and happy holiday season!
Love from me to you!

It seems like everyday there are more revelations about sexual harrassment and assault in the media. This is truly horrific and it is not surprising that it is so wide spread. The one that is the most depressing to me is George Takei - I have really enjoyed following his presence on Twitter and Facebook and I really agreed with his posting. It upsets me that he would do something like what he did to another person and then be so outspoken about Kevin Spacey. The person came forward because of the inherent hypocrisy.
Anyways. Early in my career I dealt with these issues and had to brush off this kind of stuff in the workplace but nothing as extreme as what people are revealing in the media. More sideways comments and inappropriateness at work gatherings but easy enough to deflect. I have never been assaulted or anything like that. I really feel for women and men who have had horrible experiences with this. I really do.

In other news - I have had two phone interviews for that job I applied for and am waiting to hear if they will have me in for an in person interview. I don't have anything to wear so I am going shopping today for some kind of blazer suit thing. All my clothes are too big (a good thing) but I have to have something to interview in. I got my nails done yesterday and am getting my hair done tomorrow. I will be ready to rock and roll. Got to look good. So wish me luck and don't mention this on FB. No one knows at work.

I have been having fun making icons and graphics. Getting back into that. There is some life in the graphics communities so feel free to look at my sidebar for active communities. I am posting offers in - thyncke_phyncke, enchanted sea and enchanted realms. So join there if you want stuff.

I am also very excited about the holidays this year. I am going to go low key and have my friend R*** coming in for Thanksgiving and then I am going to be here for Christmas. I am looking forward to just relaxing and not traveling and decorating for Christmas. That is about it. I am going to try and not spend too much money this year. We are going out for Thanksgiving to a seafood restaurant so no one has the burden of preparing the meal - we will have dessert at my friend J***'s house. So all good there.

I hope you are doing well there and having a nice Fall season. I really love this time of year. The crispness of the weather and the smell of fallen leaves.

Happy Fall!

Hello...

I have not started my Slashy Valentine. Not exactly freaking out but not feeling good about that either. I have a lot of research to do as I have characters that I am not familiar with at all. Augh! Totally out of my depth. I do like the challenge aspect of the challenge thing so that is good. I like to write out of my element. This is very outside my comfort zone. Oo

Other than that - things are good. Doing well at work. I relaxed today. Was going to do all sorts of things but I took a nap instead. That seems like the right decision. I am going for breakfast with a new aquaintance I met on this neighborhood website - I have met her before and she is a nice person. So that will be fun.

The holidays were good - mellow and restful.

What else - Emma Watson has started a feminist book group on goodreads so I joined that. We are reading My Life on the Road by Gloria Steinem. I am really enjoying the book so far - am two chapters in so far. Very well written and very interesting. My favorite part so far is how she refers to herself as a sort of celestial bartende. That was a very interesting descrip. So it is interesting. I really like Gloria Steinem - she was the commencement speaker at my college graduation - and very motivating. Really spoke to everyone - not just the women - so I really like her. She has been very important for the women's movement. Etc.

So that is the kind of thing I am thinking about. Hope all is well with you in your part of the world. Comments are welcome! :)

So here I am. I have not been posting much because well, I don't know. I thought I would post an update. I am here and have been working away. Doing pretty well at that. The end of the month is very busy as we have a new lecture series, a board meeting, a staff meeting and a bunch of other things going on. Busy busy. I would rather be busy than not.

It seems like time is flying by though and soon it will be holiday time. I have been making my holiday plans and this is what I am doing. I will spend Thanksgiving with friends here in the Bay Area and I am taking the whole week off (yay). We will cook prime rib and all the usual sides and do fun stuff around here. I hope we go to the Tiki Lounge for one of those fruity drinks etc. My friend R from Vegas is coming in and then time will be spend with J. Good times.

Then for Christmas, I am heading East to New Hampshire. I am travelling on Christmas Day as that was the best fare I could get and then I come back on New Year's Eve. I though I should spend some time with my family. My folks are in their 70s and 80s and time with them is precious. I am just really conscious of wanting to spend time with them. Also, it is my brother Dave's 50th birthday. Woot. So we will do something for that. Good times. We also want to have some kind of talk with my folks about how they will manage info their elder years. They are doing well now but what to do when they are not doing so well. I am all about planning.

So Sir Theodore is doing well and accumulating nicknames - his given name is Teddy but I call him Bubba and the latest nickname is Baboo. I keep ordering him cat toys online so he is totally spoiled. Crinkle balls, fuzzy mice -- he gets it all! I really love him. I still have not been able to pick up Boo's ashes but have paid for them (over the phone). I guess I will do that when I can. It just makes me sad. My vet totally understands.

This weekend I am going to see the remake of Stephen King's "Carrie". I cannot remember ever seeing the original with Sissy Spacek so I will need to do that to compare. I do like Stephen King stories so I don't know why I missed that one. Anyways. Looking forward to this one. I like the actress playing Carrie.

That is all I have. Hope all is well with you there. Have a great weekend. We are having glorious weather here. Cheers!

*hums* oh the weather outside is frightful!

Personally, I find snowfall stunningly beautiful. It has been snowing since last night and if you are in the US and following the news -- all the airports are closed on the East Coast... Manchester, NH (MHT) closed for a little while today but is opening up again this afternoon and flights will start going out. It take a lot to keep the NH folks down. This is a lot of snow, a foot in some places, 18 inches in others. The snow plows have come around about three times and this town is good at snow removal, I tell you.

We will see if I get out tomorrow. I do expect delays but I am thinking I might make it. They have a night shift and will work around the clock on those runways. MHT is a gutsy little airport and better than most. I fly through Vegas and don't expect problems there.

Fun has been had with the family and we even watched ROTK last night. I had to explain everything to my mom with limited success there. She did not really fathom the awesomeness of the Tolkien thing. LOL. Anyhoo.

I hope all of you are well and in recovery from the holidays. On to New Year's...I have no idea what I am doing for that. I am in the mood to stay in this year and sip Baileys. Maybe I will do that. Woot.

Just a little update from the Noreaster here. Cheers.

You can webcam via facebook. I had no idea you could do that. I learned that from my niece tonight. That is wicked. She had a teleconference with her best friends from school there...a threeway webcam convo with her buds. I was lucky if I could operate a tape recorder at her age. Technology sure has changed.

I also learned that I am "her cool aunt Jane" *preen* That is what my niece called me on the webcam conference with her kiddo friends. Ain't that a rip? I am "cool". Ha!

Keeping you up to date on all the happenings here in the Eastern part of the USA. I had a great visit with my friend Moe. Got some "merry Xmas to me" things and also some last minute gifts to flesh out the offerings under our tree.

Cheers to all and tomorrow is Christmas Eeeeve. Hootlety day!

So far it has been a really good day. I have been hanging out at home and doing my own thing. I got up early, had coffee (as always) and then did a really good power walk up to the Claremont Hotel and up the Fire Trail a little bit. Challenged myself and got a bit of a work out. I am trying to step up my game on fitness and move to the next level. I have also added some mellow weight training into my routine (did that last night and a few days previous too) - just free weights and some of those machines for the legs. My idea is to build some muscle so I am a bit stronger and have a faster resting metabolic rate. Yeppers.

I set up my Christmas Tree AND got my menorah all set for Hanukkah next week. Hanukkah starts Dec 1. I am getting my tree done this week so I have some weeks to enjoy it before I head out to NH for the holiday. Yeppers.

So far Thanksgiving has been great and am enjoying it alot. I am going out for a late lunch/early dinner with friends to Black Angus steak house -- which by all accounts is totally full up on reservations and then will be home for dessert here.

So happy t-day to all and hope you are feasting and having fun with friends and loved ones. I feel like I have a lot to be thankful for - work, friends and family. So counting all that into one big thank. Thanks to all of you for being here in the online realm. Counting you in too!

*hugs to all*

So I am posting this just so I can show you the cute tree. It is phase two of the decorating. I found this really cute garland at Target (tarjay) and it is just adorable. Little shirts, hats and things. I have varying angles and close-ups of it so you can seee. *squeeee* Alright. So it is a bit much. As you can see I do the tree in phases. I will have it all done eventually. It looks nice like this. Lights and garland. Not quite so nekkid anymore.

Different shots of the same thing... )

OK. So I am a nut job...I bought this new age holiday music that I really like. So soothing.

#29: I am thankful that my friend Ms R here likes to share her snacks with me. She keeps me fed and happy here at work. She rocketh.

Typical day here at the Uni. I just requested a personal day off for December. I know that I will need it to get all my stuff organized.

Tonight I am buying tape and little tag thingies for all my holiday gifties. Time to get them wrapped up.

Here are two more. These are animated and fun. The first is based on a Paul McCartney song that I hear at the mall all the time. I am sure you know the one. It gets stuck in your brain. I developed this one in my head at the mall. The other one I found on one of the image sites and it is just nice. I call it Starry Night.

I hope you like them. Credit, comment, you know the drill.

Enjoy.
