phyncke: (Trees in Green)
So I woke up on Sunday morning to the sound of a chainsaw in my yard and in that disoriented way I have...it seemed a faint sound outside or I thought a neighbor working in their yard. It did not click that I had gotten an email earlier that week from my landlord about yard work being done and I did not realize that it was to be a major excavation of our premises. Yardwork does not really cover it.

Then I hear a rapping on my chamber door down my stairway, none too gently either. It is B***. In tears.

"They killed the palm tree!"

*sobbing*

Holy mother.

The majestic royal palm in the driveway. I look out the window and the top has been sawed off and it is in pieces in the driveway.

One thing about we Berkeley people, we love our trees. We have people sitting in trees to protect them from being cut down and this one was a 100 year old landmark.

I get dressed and hurry out there with a sinking heart. It is too late to save that palm but I check to see what they are going to do to the other trees in the yard...the fig trees, the pine and the other ones I don't know the name of. They had major plans to cut them back and ruin them. I got those plans revised as they are our shade and privacy shields from the street and park areas. I am friends with the work chief on the crew so he held off until I could talk to the landlord.

So now, my window has an unobstructed view of R***** Street where I used to see a 100 year old palm swaying in the breeze. I am so upset and we plan a ceremony for that tree in our yard. It was a friend to us...

Here is what the palms look like...

Much sadness for the loss. When I looked at the tree logs, there was no rot in the wood of that tree which was the reason the landlord cited for cutting it down. It was a hazard. Uhhh no. Don't think so.

Pave paradise put up a fucking driveway...

Here is the little tree all dolled up. I have put on the ornamentz and am undecided on the tinsel question. I usually do not do tinsel since it is such a pain in the *bleep*. The tree looks cute and I only broke one ornament. *cri* It was my fave one.

The littlest tree all dressed up )

In other news, I spent the whole day running errands. To the packing store, to the post office, to the book store, to the drug store, to the dollar store...all ovah. I am spent, I am a shadow of my former self...I am Spartacus. Oops.

Anyways...

I found cool things to make icons with. More to follow.

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] aglarien1 for the tres beautiful icon. It is smashing. I want to make snow on my very own icons. I am figuring that out.
phyncke: (Christmas Sparkly Ornaments (phyncke))
So I am posting this just so I can show you the cute tree. It is phase two of the decorating. I found this really cute garland at Target (tarjay) and it is just adorable. Little shirts, hats and things. I have varying angles and close-ups of it so you can seee. *squeeee* Alright. So it is a bit much. As you can see I do the tree in phases. I will have it all done eventually. It looks nice like this. Lights and garland. Not quite so nekkid anymore.

Different shots of the same thing... )

OK. So I am a nut job...I bought this new age holiday music that I really like. So soothing.

So I got out my Christmas decorations, y'all. *does the victory dance* And I found my stash of hair conditioner in the storage thing. Yay. Did not remember I had bought all that on sale at the store. Oh la la. The things you find when you go into the storage cubby. Big things of conditioner. Heh. Some shampoo too. Pretty good.

Anyways. Minor pic spam tonight. With feeling. The little tree that could is partially dressed now. We are taking this in baby steps. I put the lights on. I will do ornaments next. Not tonight. I can only handle so much.

Twinkle, twinkle, twinkle, twinkle.. )

It looks cute, eh?

In other news: I have been working my ass off at work. I tell you. When you are the one who gets things done, people ask you to do more! I need to start shirking my responsibilities, like the rest of the Uni-verse. Anyways. I like being busy there. It makes the day go zippety-doo da. Like RLY fast. So that is good.
