I am going to see Ted tonight. I am very excited about this film. I am a big fan of Marky Mark Wahlberg and think this will be a raunchy romp and full of laughs. I am going out to dinner at my favorite Mexican restaurant down in Emeryville, Casa Poblana and plan on having a nice big meal.

I took little Ms Thing (the boo cat) to get a feline manicure today. Her nails were terribly long and she was catching on everything. So I found a place that will cut her nails for 10.00 and even though she growls a bit - the guy there is so quick with the clippers - she gets one hiss out and she is like done. Zippety doo da. All done and back in the carrier. I wish I could do it that fast but I can't. Anyhoo. It is much better and she won't hurt me or catch herself on everything here. She has recovered from the trip in the car so that is good.

That is all I have. I posted graphics offers at [livejournal.com profile] enchantedrealms and [livejournal.com profile] juicy_grapes. Feel free to check those out.

Also - we are looking for graphics makers at [livejournal.com profile] enchantedrealms so if you lean that way and are interested in a fantasy-oriented kind of thing, leave me a note or check out that comm. It is a very relaxed place with great members. No stress, no fuss. Lots of fun. You can leave me a note if you know of someone too. I am looking for people who do icons, blinkies, siggies and stuff like that. Any of those is good.

Cheers to you all!

And here is a guy hanging out on the beach without any clothes on. Makes me want to be RIGHT there. Woo. Yeah. So you have to look carefully to see the buns here but they are there as promised. I do deliver on bunday each and every Sunday for your perving pleasure. So enjoy and squint to see there.

Beach bum laying around... )

In other news:
Hair...done. Looks fabulous. It is an expense but it is well worth it to have my youthful appearance renewed. I get so much grey that I am so not ready to be looking older than I am. I dye my hair my natural color and my rule is...match my eyebrows. Don't want to look wonked out and not coordinated on that. So we go with what I am naturally. I love my chica at the salon and I pay less than at the tony places. I like that. I used to pay way over 100.00 for cut/color. Not doing that anymore, nosirree.

I am playing with images today and think I will skip the trip to the city that the friend posse is planning. I am tight this month and going to Chinatown just presents unneeded temptation that I do not need this month. I will do my groceries and budget accordingly. Yes, indeed.

I do have some writing I want to do and some cooking to do later. So I will get to that too. A nice long walk is a good idea. Some form of activity that is off the computer. It is looking to be a nice day here and sunny California.

Cheers to all and have a great Sunday.

Moanday...

Nothing went right today. Horrible people, bad things happened. Just a horrible, nasty, brutish day all told. Like a Hobbesian state of nature and I don't mean Calvin and Hobbes. They are funny this was not. I was never so happy to leave the office as I was today.

List of occurences:

-Witchy caller who took all of her issues out on me. I had to tell her to watch her manners and tone which she did not. This person was disabled and I am more than sympathetic but that does not mean she gets to haze me over the phone when I am trying to help her. So meh.

-Bathroom explodes. We have a huge toilet overflow in the bathroom. I am the facility manager on our floor and have to take care of facilities things. I report these things to our facility coordinator downstairs. By the time I figured out that we should turn off the toilet it was too late and the whole hallway had flooded. This is a lot of damage and not to mention unsanitary. The plumber informs us that someone had stuffed the toilet full of papertowels. Not a few of them but basically crammed it full of them. He could not get the snake down there. Soooo....this leads one to believe it was not a staff member but an outsider causing mischief. Bathroom is staff only but unlocked so anyone can get in there. We are going to discuss locking that bathroom to the public. There are accessible, public bathrooms in the basement of this building.

-Conference agenda wig out. I am sending people to a conference this week and we are waiting for the agenda. Usually we would have gotten it last week so we can research and prep the agenda items so our people do not go there and say DUH. Well, I email the contact at U**** and the agenda is not ready. She says "no matter what" she will email me a draft copy by the end of the day. I check my email from home at the end of the day as I leave at 4pm and it was not there by then. No agenda. We were already going to have to scramble but now we are going to have to SCRAMBLE. FUCK.

-Someone decides that since our office door is closed (shop vac in the hall to get the flooded hallway cleaned) that they can have fun with the door bell. Most people will ring it once and wait. It does take time for a staff member to get the door. Well this woman rang it over and over and then just pressed it continually. We are a DEAN's OFFICE. I would not do that at someone's home so I certainly would never do that to an office. I got the door this time and I was understandably pissed off when I opened it. I said, "We usually hear the first ring..."

I think you will agree that this was a moanworthy day.

Thank you, [livejournal.com profile] laurahonest for the perfect blinkie of the moment.

Here we have an anonymous something. A nice something but who knows where it came from. La.

Not work safe... )

Today it is hot and I am not in the mood to do laundry so I am not doing it. I figured out that I have enough clothing for the week. I will wait until the weather cools to go to the mat and do some. No sense in getting heat stroke here. I may head to the pool later for a dip. It is right across the street and that might be refreshing.

So hanging out here with my heat resistant blinds closed and doing stuff. I have an offer up and should put a few others up. What to do? Some icons I think. Bling. I do have some nice art ones too. Culture. Hmm.

Anyways. This week again will be a busy one at work. I am sending people off to a national conference and I am in good shape for that. It is all about preparing ahead of time. What I am waiting for is the agenda so we can put together background things. That has not gotten to me yet from the conference people. Nothing I can do about that. *will not stress about things I cannot control* *ooooohhhhhhmmmmmmmm*

On my second cup of coffee. Maybe I should edit that story I have. Could do that. Hmm. Or do RP posts? Hmm. Or go out for the day. Better option. He he he.

Have a good Sunday everyone.

We can have a bit of levity here. I am not going to post a diatribe about LJ or anything like that. Time for some eye candy here. Back to our regularly scheduled programming. Rly.

This guy is cute...

From storm... )

This might make me shallow but I am a permanent member and I may post on other journal platforms but I am in for the long haul here. Not going anywhere.

So enjoy this.

Work is fun. I am planning some events and I have travel arrangements up the wazoo. Two conferences back to back in May so la la la la. The travel desk is my friend. I know the timetables by heart here.

Woo.

phyncke: (how's it going?)
I woke up at 6:30 am and rolled right over and went back to sleep. Bliss.

Then I got out of bed at the decadent hour of 9:00 am and made myself a vanilla latte. I had found the syrup stuff at my grocer and can now make my very own swanky vanilla lattes and not pay $3.60 each time I want one. I make a pretty good one ... not half bad really. I got a tip from my barista about how to steam the milk just right and it works pretty well. *nod* Most things you can do yourself if you just figure them out.

So I am taking a little break from RP writing. I want to work on some fiction. I have a first chapter I really want to get to and ideas floating in my brain. That is the dealio. The chapter is Chapter one that follows the prologue I posted earlier. Time to work on that.

In other news, I am going to a movie today. Night at the Museum. At the mall...before that I have some necessary errands to run. Cat supplies to get and sundries. Normal Saturday things.

Happy weekend to all of you.

Laundry report: All my socks matched up. I know you want to know.
phyncke: (Christmas Wreath Animated)
So I got out my Christmas decorations, y'all. *does the victory dance* And I found my stash of hair conditioner in the storage thing. Yay. Did not remember I had bought all that on sale at the store. Oh la la. The things you find when you go into the storage cubby. Big things of conditioner. Heh. Some shampoo too. Pretty good.

Anyways. Minor pic spam tonight. With feeling. The little tree that could is partially dressed now. We are taking this in baby steps. I put the lights on. I will do ornaments next. Not tonight. I can only handle so much.

Twinkle, twinkle, twinkle, twinkle.. )

It looks cute, eh?

In other news: I have been working my ass off at work. I tell you. When you are the one who gets things done, people ask you to do more! I need to start shirking my responsibilities, like the rest of the Uni-verse. Anyways. I like being busy there. It makes the day go zippety-doo da. Like RLY fast. So that is good.
phyncke: (Cate WTF?!)
So the power went out here in my neighborhood last night. It suddenly blipped out and the internet went down, my cordless phone went daid and the lights went ZING. Out. I was sitting in the dark going O.o. It seems the whole neighborhood was effected as I looked out the window and could not see lights on in anyone's house. The lamp posts were on and the lights in the field across the street were on but that was about it.

What to do?

Well, my neighbors lent me their camping lantern and I lit some candles and organized all my Christmas gifties. Did not wrap but I got them all set to be wrapped. I cooked dinner on the stove which is gas and then had some pumpkin pie. All in all it was not a bad night.

I finished all that at 9:00 pm and was tired and decided to kick it. I went to sleep early. The power came on at 10:20 but I just set my alarm clock and went back to sleep.

Not a bad night. Candle light is very nice.

Heh.
phyncke: (Calvin and Hobbes Dance)
So I spent the day doing errands. I did the following:

1. Went to the groomer to have the cats claws clipped. She is such a little trooper. She handled it fine.

2. Went to the drug store and got toiletries. I *heart* Walgreen's but I hate their parking lot. I had words with someone in the parking lot. They almost backed into me. Some people.

3. I did my laundry at the launderama. That was fun. They play groovy music on the PA system and I found a Bazaar Magazine to flip through. Should be Bizarre really as I can not stand half of what the fashion world is trying to tell women to wear.

It is a game day in my neighborhood today, which means NO FRIGGING PARKING. I had to park well away from my house. *huffs* We locals are totally put out by the invasion of our territory.

And now on to my reasons to be thankful.

I was watching the ROTK movie last night and this came to mind.

#4: I am thankful that Peter Jackson directed the LOTR trilogy and did so brilliantly. It has often occurred to me that in the wrong hands, those movies could have been truly horribly done and I would have been crushed, utterly despondent. The choices he made in what to cut, the cinematography, the actors, heck the EVERYTHING was just smashing....so yay for that.

I hope you all are having a good weekend. I got lots done today so I feel pretty good. *nod*
phyncke: (Cow)
It is the Friday post here.

I woke up this morning convinced it was Wednesday. O.o

At least I had not convinced myself it was Saturday. That would have been bad. Some Saturdays I wake up thinking it is Friday and it takes me a while to orient myself. One time I actually called the telephone operator to figure out what day it was. Yes, pathetic. I knows this.

I have been roped into helping a friend of mine sell his worldly possessions tomorrow. I have to stay at his house all day while people come to look at things and buy them. He is selling his house and wants to get rid of a bunch of stuff. Why me? This so does not sound like fun. I think I get food out of the deal though. That would be good.

I am really quite snoring right now. I will keep you posted if anything develops.
phyncke: (Calvin and Hobbes Dance)
So the Day of Fun has drawn to a close. We went to the Bay Street Mall in Emeryville and did it up right. I knew it was a good sign for the day when we drove right in and got a parking space right where I knew there would be one. Parking at this mall is bad and you usually have to drive round and round. I have my secret spot though and there was the magic parking spot.

Lunch consisted of Fuddruckers burgers and fries and a bottomless glass of Pepsi. I was relentlessly asked for quarters for the video games and of course I relented. It would not have been *fun* to refuse. Once we were done eating we went to EB Games, Claire and Barnes and Noble. I think I am channeling Feanor or something because I bought all these SHINY headbands for my hair and a sparkly glittery ring. He must be rubbing off on me or something.

I had given ***** some spending money and he was all torn up about what to get at the bookstore. Now what do I live for but to spoil the kid. So...I bought him one of the things so he could get all of the stuff he wanted. That may be really bad of me but I could not help it. He wanted Calvin and Hobbes (see icon), the new Limmeny Snicket book and then he wanted to go to the toystore and get a set of Magic cards. Not so much really. O.o

So the movie was good, Open Season. I will not divulge the plot suffice to say it was full of very funny animals. The best line was..."I know he's a duck but he treats me good...."

Tonight we are cooking in and I am introducing him to The Terminator movies. Part I for starters. *wicked grin* The classics of American cinema. He he he. I mean someone has to....
phyncke: (Valinor Uttermost West)
So it is Sunday morning. I am having an uneventful weekend here in Bezerkeley, USA. It is frigging cold in my apartment and I have Enya on the stereo here.

I was going to go east for 4th of July but just figured out that I will not have enough vacation time accrued to cover the trip. I do not want to have to go on unpaid leave and lose pay so I will postpone the trip until September and go for Labor Day. September is a nice time of year to go to New England. I just have to cancel the leave I asked for at work and look a bit foolish. No worries there. The main purpose of the trip is to go see my parents so, they are just as happy to see me then as in July. I think I will get a better fare on the plane trip too. Soo...all is well. I will also be able to bring my niece her birthday gifties too. What fun.

What to do today? Car is busted so I either have to go within walking distance of the ponderosa or scam a ride off of a friend to do anything. Hmmm. Stares at phone.

I think more coffee is called for.

I got tagged on photobucket for TOS violation on one of my bunday icons. That pisses me off. Where can I post these things if not there? What *bleepin bleeps*. Does anyone know of a file hosting site that allows racy content? I mean a man's butt is not that bad, now is it?
