I am sitting here with a cup of coffee on a Saturday morning and it seems like a good time to post an update. I will do some blurbs and see how it goes.

-I am making no progress on my Sultry story. That is not good. I have a certain window of time to get it done and I need to get it done. I better get on that and full court press. I am hoping it will cooperate and be nice and short. Please, let it be short.

-I applied for a job at the law school. Assistant director for events and stuff and had a phone interview and then they quickly called me in for the in person first round. Now I have to wait while they interview all their other candidates. Anything could happen but I know I did well. I am not holding my breath at all but it would be nice to have all those nice shiny events to do. Really fun. I am a little bored where I am.

-I am going on vacation in August to see my family in Manchester NH. This is an obligation but I am happy to go. My mom is very excited and I will get to see my childhood friend Mo and we will spend some time together. I will get to eat lobster and clams and go to Maine and my favorite shoe store with the really good deals. So it is all good. Very fun! Woot.

-Tonight I am going to see Red 2 (Retired Extremely Dangerous) this very funny series about retired CIA operatives who get in trouble and reactivate. John Malkovitch, Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren - great all star cast of older actors. Really fun.

That is all I have and I hope you are well where you are. Have a great weekend!

I am not sure that Edgar Allen Poe really was this cool but, I am game to see this movie. I am going to have to suspend belief for him as a crime fighting detective type but will see it. Here is a link to the wiki on Poe (not a happy life):

So it is raining here which seems as much of an occasion to post as any, eh? I got some things done today, let me list them for you:

-cleaned the bathroom
-changed the bed
-vacuumed the bedroom
-vacuumed the hall area
-two loads of laundry done

I am still not done with my chores but significant progress was made.

Tonight I am going to see The Hunger Games. Very excited about it. I bought advance tickets at the AMC and look forward to it. I saw one review and it got a good review, not that I really pay attention to those. I am intrigued by the plot line, gaming atmosphere, hunting thing and futurama elements of it. Alternate universe etcetera. Looks interesting. Let's see if it holds together. I will post an update on that, sans spoilers.

That is all I have. Might do a bunday post if I can find something good for it. Hope you are having a good weekend and all that. Be well!

I have wanted to see this for a while. It is about a silent film star and the transition to sound film. Looks really good to me. See what you think of the trailer. This is up for an Oscar. Movie night is postponed. I have a sore throat and am staying in. Uggles.

Tomorrow night is the last of the extended version theatrical viewings in the movie theatres. Yays! I am really looking forward to seeing this film in all its grandness on the big screen. The Battle of Pelennor, the Charge of the Rohirrim, Theoden's Speech and all that ... just awesome. I love all the movies but this one is truly epic.

Hurrah!

So the movie was epic! Not only is it an epic tale of good and evil, as we all know but this version of the movie had a special intro by Peter Jackson himself to the fans. He talks to us sitting there like we are his pals. Nice intro to the series and the film and it just really seems to recognize that hey, we are important to him and his making of the film. Really nice there.

It was such a cool audience. Could tell that they were all real LOTR fans. Silently respectful of the awesomenous of the movie and at at the end...we all decide as a group...like the whole theater...that we will be back next week and the week after to watch them together. That was totally fun. I am in...

I AM IN!

I am seeing all of them. They are beautiful and I love my fandom. Lord, I have stories to write. All the elvish goodness gave me some ideas. I better finish my WIP first...I have six chapters done and I just better get writing.

Night all. I will be tired at work tomorrow but it is SO worth it!

Lord of the Rings, Fellowship of the Ring tonight. Extended version. I find the retread of this in the theater irresistable and will probably go see them all again. They are majestic and a great reflection of Tolkien's work. I am looking forward to it. Three hours and fifty minutes. Yikes.

Anyhoo. Anyone else seeing those? Fandom peeps?

Edge of your seat, spy-ish kind of thing with the girl (Saoirse Ronan) who got cast in The Hobbit (as Itaril). I have not seen her act before but she was brilliant in this and I think, after seeing this that she will make a fine elven girl. She has a translucent quality to her look that will work. I know that people are up in arms about there being an inserted character in this movie but I am now kind of excited to see what will happen with this. This girl is fantastic and has great range as an actor. She rocked it in Hanna, ROCKED it. Played it with some steel and vulnerability, giving a performance that showed depth and versatility. I look forward to seeing her as an elf. Not a popular sentiment but I don't believe I have expressed an opinion on this yet so not contradicting anything previously stated.

Cate Blanchette - it was weird to see her in a villainous role but she was devastating here. Her American accent a bit, well hard done and overdone but she got that to some degree. She did not seem to be speaking naturally at times. They could have easily had her character be British so I am not sure why they stuck her with an American there, a small plot point change would have helped her out of that. She still was diabolical and twisted - good role for her.

I had fun with the friends and hit Borders going out of business sale (sob) and bought a strange vampire book with Jane Austen being a vamp. Interesting lark of a novel that was half price. Looked amusing. I wanted Stephen MacGuire and got this one.

Anyways. That is it for a Saturday night. Next up, Bunday. Woot.

PS-thank you, [livejournal.com profile] heyurs for my Passover matzoh v-gift! That totally rocks!

I am a sucker for movie's that are sci fi based and where character's possess cool super powers. I really love that. Effects, right on. Tonight's movie will not get an Oscar but it was fun entertainment, had eye candy (both male and female) and super powers. Love that.

Number 6 (kick ass gorgeous Australian blonde chick) was in this one too which made me wonder where Number 5 went. I am now obsessing about Number 5!!! I hope they do more of these movies as I love the premise and numerical series thing.

Anyhoo. No work tomorrow so I went to the movies again.

The King's Speech! This was just a brilliant movie ... I love Colin Firth, Geoffrey Rush and Helena Bonham Carter. There are some nice secondary bits of casting in this too...Jennifer Ehl and Guy Pearce. Historical bio-film about the ascension of King George to the throne at the onset of WWII and his personal crisis with public speaking as related to early childhood trauma. A very well done movie.

I tell you, the movie 2012 totally delivers on its promise of non-stop action and destruction. From the first sequence with pseudo-scientific plot device, all the way through to the end with the redemptive finale. I was riveted every step of the way. The thing is, so much is happening there that it was hard to see it all. My friends and I think we will go see it again for Thanksgiving.

I recommend it. Danny Glover as the President, works for me. I was not disappointed in the least. This totally delivered the goods. So yay!

We went out to the burger place before hand and split orders of: chile, cheese steak and buffalo wings and then still got the movie popcorn. Gads. Not a very good nutritional night for me but it was a total treat. :)

Yays!
