It is the weekend and I am so glad. The pace at work is furious, have been very busy. I just finished my event that I am primarily responsible for and it went very well. Now I have another event and conferences to finish up. Just a lot to do, so much that it is hard to see straight. I combine that with the fact that I am now supervising two students and that means I am responsible for making sure they are busy and productive and know how to do what they are doing. That actually adds to my work load.

So I don't really have time to do much of anything. No time for my sidelines and I am barely keeping up with anything online. I have taken a hiatus on most graphics things and tread water in my RP-stuff. All that takes second tier to my professional life. Especially now that I am up for a promotion.

I did get news on that too. The way it is working now with that is that I will get the reclass but no additional money with that this year. I will have to wait until the budget crisis eases and they can increase my salary. I am pretty disappointed about that as I could have used the money now and I anticipate furloughs next year. I wanted to bolster my income so that I can take that hit next year. I expect to lose income due to losing time on my work hours. My hope was that a small increase would offset that. Total suckage on that score. The only good thing is that my reclass will put me in a much higher wage scale so that the income "potential" is there. So that is something. Not much, but something.

I did start writing a little something this week. A little first age tale in my series. I hope to chip away at this with the little time I do have to write and finish it up in June. I am not doing the Ardor in August this year as I have a boat load of my own story ideas to write. I will revisit that in the winter and I am sure I will join in on that then. I will enjoy the stories that everyone writes and cheer along with the excellent writers that participate in that. Hurrah!

So happy weekend to one and all and be well. What else has happened. I got my state tax refund today and found it was 350 more than I estimated. Thank goodness they corrected that for me. Ha!

Update of sorts...

Things are going pretty well for me though I still have my injury on my shoulder and upper back. It is strain from computer use. I think I can financially squeak out a chiro appointment this week so we will see what that does and I hope that I will get my tax refund and be able to do a few more this month. She does this ultrasonic massage thing that provides a lot of the pain relief. So hopefully. I should also spend less time on the computer but my work depends on that and alot of my hobbies. We will see how that goes. I have a short week this week.

For work...my awards program committee met this week and came up with the recipients of the award so once those are approved by the **** Council, I can go ahead with the full campus press on publicity and getting ready for the big final awards ceremony. I started our communications office on publicity for this and put together a briefing book for the program. They were really impressed with how organized I was. He he he. Go me. I used my experience from my PR days and it took me all of 10 minutes to put that together. A little effort and a big pay off. Woo.

I have been relaxing most of the weekend and taking it easy. We have found a new great place to go walking...it might seem a bit creepy but it is the most beautiful serene place here in the East Bay...the cemetery in Oakland. Quiet...rolling hills and lovely ponds in there. I noticed a few people go dog walking in there and exercise in there. A well kept secret. It closes at sunset and is really lovely. It reminds of me of places back east where cemeteries are points of interest. So it does not really creep me out at all. It is actually interesting to look at the grave markers and such too. Quite a bit of work goes into those.

So that is it for me. I have been doing some graphics, small offers and dolls. Stuff like that. Very low key. Spring is here and we have some rainy weather here in the Bay Area. I got my food shopping done and some cleaning too.

Cheers to all and happy weekend. :)

I have done little else but read and post graphics on livejournal this week so I thought it was time for an update.

Cut in case you could care less... )

This is me at the moment. Thanks for reading and hope everyone is getting some Spring weather.

*waves* Happy Weekend.

I have been meaning to do an update, which is not just a paste or a meme for sometime. I have been so tired at night that I have not been able to get to it. I will try one now. Rest assured Bunday is coming. I have a surprise for you so stay tuned for that in a later post.

Cut for long work quasi-rant...read at your peril... )

In other news...the neck and back are feeling much better. It only flares when I forget to rest and stay on the computer too long. We watched the movie Michael Clayton on DVD last night and I have to say, George Clooney is my new fave actor. He really is good in this and the movie is very interesting. It is about a manic depressive lawyer and the intrigues surrounding him. Tom Wilkinson plays the bipolar attorney and is just amazing. So I recommend this one. There is a scene with horses that is hauntingly beautiful.

So that is it for now. I am off to bake some muffins and get off the computer for a while. Bunday will be posted later in a slightly different way than usual. Cheers!

I know what I know....

So I have made it to work.

I have had trials with my car. It crapped out on me last night when I got back to my friend's house from an outdoor BBQ. We tried over and over to get it started. Jump started it. Fiddled with wires. I had just filled the tank so it was not out of gas. Finally, we gave up and called for AAA. The tow dude tried a few things and he could not get it started. That made me feel a little better. He did the same things we did. I had it towed to my garage in my neighborhood and went home. Complained to a bunch of people and felt better.

So low and behold, I talk to my mechanic this morning and it STARTS! The frigging thing starts right up this morning when they go to move it into the garage. I cannot believe it. I am still having them look at it and do a diagnostic but still....*huffs* How very curious. I do not think it will cost me much so I am very relieved. I am going to kick its tires when I get it back. *bleeping* car!

And now...I have been wandering around with totally random song lyrics in my head. Paul Simon, Graceland, I know what I know....I will pass it on. So you can go crazy along with me. I hear the instrunmental that goes with it to. It is such a fun song though. The background vocals are really cool too. I am hearing the whole thing in my head right now. I love Paul Simon. He has a new CD out that my Mom has promised to send me. She gets a discount on music. Yay.

Here is the lyric....so quirky.

She looked me over and I guess she thought I was alright.
Alright in a sort of a limited way for an off night.
She said, "Don't I know you from the cinematographer's party?"
I said, "Who am I to go against the wind?"

I know what I know, I've said what I've said....

Back to my life...

The BBQ was lovely. We ate ribs, I drank soda since I do not drink much and I met an animator from Pixar. I did not know that Pixar had been bought by Disney. Huh. Anyway. Good weather, fun people and lots of food. This animator also makes a mean potato salad....he put peas in it and everything. Yummers. We ate cheesecake for dessert and I would have been home in good time had not the car done its thing. Oh well. it was still a lovely time.

Happy Tuesday which feels like Monday. I was telling the cafe dude that this morning on my way into the Uni. He agreed. It feels like Monday.
