I saw Suzanne Vega on television today. I first got into her in college and we just loved her lyrics. She was more a poet than a song writer. Minimalist and poetic. It was nice to see that she is still writing and performing. She looks great and almost the same as she did so many years ago. I have to buy some more of her music as I only have the first album. I don't know where the rest of them went. I am sure I used to have them. I know I have been scarce here. Busy at work etc. I think that will lessen.

"Cracking"

It's a one time thing
It just happens
A lot
Walk with me
And we will see
What we have got
Ah...

My footsteps are ticking
Like water dripping from a tree
Walking a hairline
And stepping very carefully
Ah...

My heart is broken
It is worn out at the knees
Hearing muffled
Seeing blind
Soon it will hit the Deep Freeze

And something is cracking
I don't know where
Ice on the sidewalk
Brittle branches
In the air

The sun
Is blinding
Dizzy golden, dancing green
Through the park in the afternoon
Wondering where the hell
I have been
Ah...

Suzanne Vega, self titled.

Well I wake up to a sky so blue
With my girlfriend in the other room
Got the coffee on and the pancakes done
The cat 'sleeping outside in the sun

The tv sings its morning blues
And it’s all the same with all the news
But she walks up, smiles, kisses me
And says your coffee’s done.

Then starts singing.
Yeah yeah yeah
She is singing.

Well It’s a pretty good day.
I’m lookin’ forward to tomorrow
To have a pretty good day.
again...

Well it’s a pretty good day
I’m looking forward to tomorrow
To have a pretty good day
Yeah we’ll have a good day.

So I lace my boots up and step outside
Catch a cab cause my car died
And I go to work with my friend Dan
Paintin’ houses the best we can

On my way back home I try and mix it up
Walk halfway then take a bus
And as it pulls up and the doors open
I hear the bus driver say "step up" please "STEP UP"

And I’m singing, And I’m singing
Yeah yeah yeah
And I’m singing yeah yeah yeah yeah
Some guy looks over and says ‘how ya doin’?’ I say...

Well it’s a pretty good day
I’m looking forward to tomorrow
To have a pretty good day
Yeah yeah yeah

Well it’s a pretty good day
I’m looking forward to tomorrow
To have a pretty good day
Yeah we''ll have a good day

And through the window
There’s a whole world
And I’m watching all the people
All the faces and the places I have yet to go

And the sunshine now it’s fading
And my girlfriend she’s waiting
And I bet that she’s outside
Sleeping in the shade

Cause it’s a pretty good day
I’m looking forward to tomorrow
To have a pretty good day
Yeah, again...

Well it’s a pretty good day
I’m looking forward to tomorrow
To have a pretty good day
Yeah, we'll have a good day

It’s a good day
Yeah.....yeah....yeah
It’s a good day

I think my earrings are singing to me. This song from Sesame Street.

1-2-3
4-5-6
7-8-9

Ladybugs, at the lady bug picnic!

I have been hearing that song ever since I put them on. I think it is because they are lady bug earrings. Heh.

Catchy little tune and you know how maddening things from Sesame Street can be.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh.

Werds.....

It's outrageous the food they try to serve in the public schools,
Outrageous the way they talk to you like you're some kind of critical fool.

It's a blessing to rest my head in the circle of your love,
It's outrageous! I can't stop thinking 'bout the things I'm thinking of.

And I'm tired....

Paul Simon, Outrageous, from Surprise
phyncke: (awesome)
It's outrageous to line your pockets off the misery of the poor...
Outrageous the crimes some human beings must endure....

Outrageous, Paul Simon, Surprise, 2006.

This song is full of gems. I will post them now and again. I have the song on repeat right now. It is so good. Makes you want to dance around. Hip swinging good. I love music. I pass two incredible CD stores on my way home and I decided that I needed a treat today after all the traumas recently. That line above is the first line of the song. Perhaps I shall post the song in its complete form. This line just struck me as well....heh.

Anyway. Got the car. Not so bad. Nothing wrong with it. They could not find a blessed thing wrong with it. I got an oil change and a new hose. Go figure. It is an 88 but only has 90k miles on it. Should run a while yet. My mechanic said he would come to the house next time It goes on me. Now that is service. They really rock at my garage! *grin* I think they want to keep me as a customer. I would if I were them.

Still feels like Monday. Having a silly dinner. *blush*

8:49 PM: Dinner became less silly. Just breakfast for dinner. Yum. Eggs and a bagel. Mm mm mm. Small pleasures.

I know what I know....

So I have made it to work.

I have had trials with my car. It crapped out on me last night when I got back to my friend's house from an outdoor BBQ. We tried over and over to get it started. Jump started it. Fiddled with wires. I had just filled the tank so it was not out of gas. Finally, we gave up and called for AAA. The tow dude tried a few things and he could not get it started. That made me feel a little better. He did the same things we did. I had it towed to my garage in my neighborhood and went home. Complained to a bunch of people and felt better.

So low and behold, I talk to my mechanic this morning and it STARTS! The frigging thing starts right up this morning when they go to move it into the garage. I cannot believe it. I am still having them look at it and do a diagnostic but still....*huffs* How very curious. I do not think it will cost me much so I am very relieved. I am going to kick its tires when I get it back. *bleeping* car!

And now...I have been wandering around with totally random song lyrics in my head. Paul Simon, Graceland, I know what I know....I will pass it on. So you can go crazy along with me. I hear the instrunmental that goes with it to. It is such a fun song though. The background vocals are really cool too. I am hearing the whole thing in my head right now. I love Paul Simon. He has a new CD out that my Mom has promised to send me. She gets a discount on music. Yay.

Here is the lyric....so quirky.

She looked me over and I guess she thought I was alright.
Alright in a sort of a limited way for an off night.
She said, "Don't I know you from the cinematographer's party?"
I said, "Who am I to go against the wind?"

I know what I know, I've said what I've said....

Back to my life...

The BBQ was lovely. We ate ribs, I drank soda since I do not drink much and I met an animator from Pixar. I did not know that Pixar had been bought by Disney. Huh. Anyway. Good weather, fun people and lots of food. This animator also makes a mean potato salad....he put peas in it and everything. Yummers. We ate cheesecake for dessert and I would have been home in good time had not the car done its thing. Oh well. it was still a lovely time.

Happy Tuesday which feels like Monday. I was telling the cafe dude that this morning on my way into the Uni. He agreed. It feels like Monday.
