Much as my mind's workings are trying to convince me that the little settlings of this old old rambling apartment house are some sinister person, laying in wait somewhere in here, set to kill me. I tell you, these are the thoughts that happen when an intruder comes in some part of your space. I have checked and looked. All the closets, behind the shower curtain...the places where someone could hide. No one is in here.

I have neighbor's that don't truly understand the need to bolt our outer door and the need to do so became starkly clear when I came home at 4:00 pm to find the front door wide open and no one in evidence at all. I did shout around, got no answer and then locked up the house.

My general point made about our security was more starkly made when another female resident was working in our yard and somehow it worked out that a vagrant type intruded into our yard and he parked himself right in our open doorway. He was cantankerous enough that she felt the police were needed. If you lived near the Avenue here, you would know what I mean by vagrant type from the Avenue. I won't go into the particulars of that type of situations. This person made what he thought were charming statements but seem threatening to a female alone. That female was not me and I am getting this information second hand. But the fact that the person encroached into our yard and front door, makes me more nervous about my living space and is giving me reason to be up typing this, well past my bedtime. Sooo...

There is no one in my house (or my floor of it)...but me, the cat, and those mice I am trying to catch.

My last email about this to all of "them". The other inmates of our residential house was that we have to implement heightened security measures like at the airport. Well sure...I think we do. I won't bore you with those but I outlined a plan for what that would be.

Gah.

But I did take a picture of my fridge just so I could show you my collection of kitschy magnets. Weeee. Ok. I am on vacation and I don't have a lot to do so I think of things like this to post on LJ. Sad, innit? Just humour me.

The latest additions are from the Star Trek thing in Las Vegas, a Hobbiton one and two Wyoming ones. Pretty spiff.

I am off to go rug hunting and use my gift cert at Trader Joe's. Woo hoo.

So today was good day. I got some thing for me and for the house. About a year ago I think I went through a fit of depression and killed a bunch of my house plants through neglect. I let them die, the poor little things. I decided it was time to stop having a bare apartment and replace them. I found some nice plants at Long's in Oakland and potted them up. Well it really makes a difference in how I feel in here. So much more life around me. They look great.

I also bought some sox and a card for a friend that is hilarious and oh so fitting. I will send it tomorrow. I also saw a painting I want to buy. I love art. Carol Aust. Oh la la. I do not have the money but man, her work is just beautiful. Check it out here at: http://www.carolaust.com/

Right now I am cooking dinner and it is a [livejournal.com profile] tuxedo_elf recipe and quite divine. Apple sauce pork chops. Mm mm mm. Bad jew that I am, I eat pork. Yesh, I does.

So on to my thanks for today. Sunsets. Specifically, West Coast sunsets. Today's colors were oranges, and reds. Quite lovely. Watching the sun set over the Bay is just really nice. When I lived on the east coast I used to have to get up for sunrise to catch the sun over the water. Here we get sunset and it is spectacular.

I also want to share with you my latest icon. I am so pleased with this one. I got the effect of lightning striking. It looks so cool. Here it is...

OK. It is 1:19 am. I have one last thing to do and then I sleep.

Nature. Beauty. La la. I went to the regional park today. We cooked sausages and hung out and then went to the Botanic Gardens (it was not the BotaniCAL Gardens as we all thought). Anyway....here some lovely piccies of the park.

PICSPAM ensues.

I also priced out REAL digital cameras today and the one I want is way out of my price range. At least that is what the guy in the photo shop tried to tell me. I am going to hunt online. I may be able to get some thing there.

And no weekend would be complete without a picture of the queen of the roost. The domo-gato. The little Boo-cat. Yep. She in charge.

So that is it for now. I am off to sleepy land. I am way tired. Please let me sleep late tomorrow. I really want to sleep late but somehow I never do.

Cheers and sweet dreams to all.

She such a perty little thing. *gushes*

I cropped these for size. Behind the cut for those on dial up. Nothing naughteh here.
