Today's Post (final entry on this theme)

"Friends are the Bacon Bits in the Salad Bowl of Life."
- Pizza Place Sign

Now I looked for all these famous quotes and interesting people saying deep and meaningful things about friendship. I wanted to be all profound about it and stuff but this really says it all. If you prefer croutons, then substitute the word croutons there.

I am thankful for the bacon bits, the friends that I have in my life, or salad bowl. Here in the electronic world and in my personal life, and professional life. Friendships enrich my existence and give me strength...

Thank you all for being here and I do think flist friends ARE friends. I hope you are enjoying the new year week and have a great holiday.

I have arrived in Everett, WA and am hanging out with [livejournal.com profile] khylea for the rest of the week. Air travel had some delays but I had my iphone and reading materials. I forgot how cool that magazine Real Simple is. Great issue this time.

It is 10 degrees colder here than in Cali but I have my winter coat. :P

Today's Post (4)

Is for the opportunities I have had, for growth and development. These have kept me from stagnating and have turned my job from just a job into a career and something I can imagine doing for quite some time. I really do think I have happened onto the career that suits me and that I am good at. I really enjoy what I do and I am getting good feedback on that too. I was settling for something else and ended up here, in a fulfilling career. I am really happy about that. It is a job that makes me think and keeps my mind engaged too.

So much gratitude for that.

Cheers and these posts are nice in that they make me think about things in my life and reflect. It is a good thing to do at this time of the year. I have one more post to do before the end of the year. Thanks for reading. If anyone is :P

Today's Post (3)

A really delicious home cooked lunch (breakfast).

Scrambled eggs, sausage and an english muffin with home made jam.

Simple flavors can taste the best. They are distinguishable and delicious. I am thankful for the means to make, ability to put this on the table and the taste of this.

Post two

I am thankful for the small creatures (well small and large) that have shared my life. The pets and animals I have had through my life that have given me love and companionship. Currently, I have one cat but I have had many pets and I think of them all now. They have kept me from being lonely and taught me a lot. I will list them.

Max - a beagle, dachsund mix and my childhood pet
Picasso and Goya - pair of black cats that I had after college
Jake - black, flat coat retriever I found in Oakland at the ATM machine
Boo and Radley - pair of white cats, Boo still with me

I think I will always have a pet as I enjoy caring for animals and just love them. I have a plan to get a dog when I retire from work as then I will have the time to care for one and it will not be alone all day.

So here is to critters, large and small, thank you for what you give us, your love and devotion.

This idea, this time around was started by [livejournal.com profile] keiliss. She is posting for the 5 days leading up until new year's and detailing what makes her grateful, thankful and things like that. She had planned something longer but shortened that. Now I am going to catch up here and calculate how many "gratitudes" I would have to post (5) and post them in some manner in the few days left until New Year's and see how I do. This is phyncke's-verse and this is how I want to do this. I love the idea of this and am enjoying reading the posting.

Day 1 (Today and the Gift of Time)

I am given the gift of time, for which I am grateful. I have time to get things done at my own pace and inclination. That in of itself is remarkable and I could stop there and thank someone for that but really, I would have to go thank the Governor of California for providing me with furlough days and I don't think I want to do that. For now, I am blissfully aware of having hours in the day with which I can do what I want.

And so I, cleaned and dusted my home, organized my life for the new year. I dusted, I gathered and arranged papers and felt more mastery over my place than I had before. It felt good to have gone through my piles of papers, clothing and books...etc and purged out what was no longer needed. I usually take what is re-usable to various places for resale or re-use and then donate the rest either in our neighborhood or to Good Will.

I like to face the New Year with minimal clutter and more breathing room. I am close to this goal and that makes me very grateful too. Thankful that I am able to work on this and back to the beginning, grateful to have time to spend on these projects at home. When I am working. none of this gets done.

Free time, not so free, but used well.

If it seems a rambly bit, and it probably is as I was heading off to bed when I thought to start this. I go to bed, pretty sure that no one will have any idea what I am talking about. I think I know...but I will have to read this again in the morning. :P
