Hey hey

Here I am on a Monday day. I am getting my shingles shot at my doctor's office today so glad to get that done. I have known people that have gotten shingles so I really don't want to get that. It is a two shot regiment - a few months apart so glad to be able to get that for free from my doctor. I hear shingles is miserable so I am not going to get that. No way.

I had a nice quiet weekend. I got a lot of work done on my plants - potted a bunch of them - 5 of them - from Saturday to Sunday. I love potting plants. They look so good in their new pots so I am really happy with those. I have bought lots of plants during the pandemic so I am full up and trying not to buy any right now. I want to manage what I have and get these all potted up. It is a lot to handle so just keeping on top of all of this is a lot. Want to do that. I love plants so will do that.

I have one vacation planned this summer - I am taking a road trip to Oregon in July with my friend J***. We are going to see her son and my friend R****. So that will be fun. We are going to drive to Medford, Oregon and stay at an Air BNB there and then drive south back to California through some beach areas. So that should be fun. I am not eager to travel by plane yet so this sounds like a good idea. Getting away but not on a plane. Happy with that.

Anyways, that is all I have. Hope all is well with you there. Take good care!

I have been waiting all day for a snowflake challenge and come to find out it is only on the odd days of the month - not the even days. There is no challenge today. So I am waiting for nothing. Glad I figured that out since I waited all day for it. LOL. I am new to it so newbie mistake.

I had a great day - it rained most of the day so I did not get my walk in. I will go tomorrow. I did have a chat on the phone with my oldest friend, M** and that was good. We usually chat and walk together but the weather was bad on both coasts today so we just chatted. I am really enjoying our Saturday appointment and hope we keep it up. We have been friends since we were six years old so that is coming up on 50 years. Wow. Long time.

So after that - I went out plant shopping with my friend J***. We went to nurseries and plant shops in the East Bay here and I got some good stuff. I got some tiny plants that I am excited to see grow into bigger plants and I got a variegated pepperonia which was not expensive and will be easy to
grow. I am all into plants during the pandemic. I really love succulents so I have a few of those and I have other plants around with varying degrees of success. My mom is really good with plants but I need to work at it. I have to research the care and watch youtube videos on things. I am always learning. I usually have to look up the soil things for plants - I don't know much about that. I feel that the soil you pot a plant in is very important to it's growth. So I usually look that up online. Anyways. - Learning. I want to learn how to propagate some of my plants - so will figure that out.

What else - I went a little crazy on Etsy buying stickers for my bullet journal. There are so many cute things there - so many adorable stickers that I just had to have. I bought a lot - eyeglasses - sunshine - florals - and the like. I will use them to decorate my entries. I looked on amazon and did not like the stickers there - the ones on Etsy are more unique and interesting. So I got them there.

My stimulus payment hit my account - they sure got that out fast. That is about all I have to say about it. It helps and I hope it helps the people who need it. The government is also doing supplemental unemployment too - so that is also something. They cut the amount from $600 a week to $300 a week but at least they are doing something. I think this will all be revisited once Biden takes office. I do hope so. The fact that the United States is not supporting its citizens is pretty clear.

Anyhoo. That is all I have - another day - no writing done - I am watching Iron Chef tonight. I love watching stressed people cook under pressure.

Hope you are well there. Enjoy the new year and let's break it in slowly.

So it is here - 2021. The longest year of our lives is finally over. Am I right? Did 2020 seem to go on forever? Time seemed to stretch a bit and just stopped at certain moments. I think time was playing with us there really. Well finally it is a new year so let's see what this one has in store. Let's get this going!

Today, I did stuff around here. I went for a good long walk first thing - started that out right. The walks are starting to feel good. The first part is a long incline so I get the body pumping and really work it. So I like the challenge of that. The whole round trip walk is about 3 miles so that is a good stretch. It takes me about an hour to do. Not too bad. Today I ran into some succulents on the route. There are some great gardens here in Berkeley, CA so I took a picture of some pretty succulents I saw today. Love these.

And then I came home - cooked a nice breakfast of pancakes and turkey bacon and then got to work on some of my own plants. I have some that I have been meaning to repot for a while so got that done today. A couple of succulents and a fern. I love how they look when they are finally in their new pot. Just so happy. Here is a pic of those. Yay!

So I am doing good today. Getting things done. I really like new year's with all its hope and promise and newness. A shiny new year - let's just see how it goes. I have noticed people are pretty optimistic on social media and things are looking better on there. I do think it will take a while for the pandemic to clear up here in the United States and they need to get on it with the vaccine distribution so we have some things to get going on - but hey - at least we have the vaccine and a new administration to get it out there. I am looking forward to the return of some competency to our government. That will take a while too - so patience will be important.

Anyhoo. Happy New Year to you and hope you are feeling the optimism.

So hey - I am here with a post. I had a great vacation in New Hampshire/Massachusetts. I spent time with my family and met my half-sister and there was nothing bad or scary about that. She is very nice and we all got along. We spent a Friday-Monday weekend thing together on the Cape in Mass and it was very good. It was amazing how relaxed it all was. I was very happy that there was no weird awkwardness and that my Dad had a good time. This was the first time he was meeting his eldest daughter so that was pretty cool.

Had some great gastro experiences - ate fried clams, had a lobster roll. So that was very fun. We did some girlie things - I got my face done with a make up person. So now I know how to do make up. It is funny - I have spent most of my life not doing make up but now I am kind of getting into it. I got some stuff and it looks pretty good. It is not that hard to do. I do quick make up on work mornings - just mascara and lips and then more involved when I am going out on the weekends. So there is that.

The only other thing that is new is that I have gotten back into plants. I went through a phase for a while where I was killing my plants. I guess I was not paying attention to them. But now with the help of a friend - I am getting some nice plants and herbs and enjoying caring for them. I made some salmon with fresh dill that I grew myself. That was fun and delicious. Fresh dill is way better than the dry stuff. More flavorful.

Anyhoo - that is about all I have. Tomorrow, I am going to Santa Cruz for the day and to see David Sedaris speak at a local bookstore there. I am very excited about that. We get a copy of his new book and hopefully he will sign it.

So that is the state of me. Hope all is well with you. Comments are awesome.
