Thought I would post the Oscar nominations for 2016. I have seen - Mad Max, Bridge of Spies and the Martian. I want to see Joy and The Big Short. One thing that is noteworthy is that there is a profound lack of diversity in these. Very few people of color - typical. Just a comment. They say that the people who vote on these are mostly - older and white so that is how they vote - like older white people. Maybe things have to change on that? Also - Ridley Scott was totally overlooked in the director category - what gives there?

After some research here is the full list of the Oscar's nominees for 2012. I am excited that Moneyball and the Descendant's are in the running as I saw both of those films and really enjoyed those. No predictions on this yet but here is the big list with all the nominations. I am also including the link to the source post (Huffington Post)

Oscar's Nominations 2012 )

I am unsure whether or not I am watching the Oscar's this year. I know. I may or may not. I cannot decide if I am going to spend the time doing that. So will see.

One thing I will be doing is watching the State of the Union tonight. Go Obama!

I was really pleased to see that The King's Speech got top honor tonight. Also recognized for some technical and costume awards was Alice in Wonderland and Inception -- both movies that I liked a lot. I am putting a few movies on my "to see" list - The Fighter for one and some others.

Here is the full list of the awards for your information:

The winners have a little flag next to the title of the film etc.

Have a good night! *turns the TV off*

Performing at today's Oscar's is the PS 22 chorus*. The teacher who teaches them says there is nothing special about this school but when they started singing with "emotion" and feeling they became something special. You can find their videos on youtube under "PS 22 chorus". Totally rocking!

Very fun!

18 minutes away from the red carpet goodness. Here we are for Oscars 2011. The crudites have been cut, the guacamole purchased, we got chips. I am ready eddy for the awards ceremony today. I have a friend coming over and we will be donning tiaras for this year's Oscars Show 2011. Much silliness to ensue.

The pre-show starts at 2pm here in PST land and then the ceremony itself starts at 5:30 pm PST. (other time zones noted here: 8:30 EST - 7:30 CEN- 6:30 MNT - USA). I suggest checking a time zone site for international time zones.

My favorite for Best Picture is The King's Speech. I have not seen nor do I wish to see The Black Swan. I do like Natalie Portman but that movie did not appeal to me as a psycho drama-thriller thing and ballet is not an interest of mine. I do look forward to seeing her in Thor which is coming out later this year. So yays. See this post for the list of those nominated.

Anyways. I am looking forward to the glitz and glam and hope the show delivers some entertainment and laughs. Yays!

Cheers!

These Oscar promotions are a hoot. Anne Hathaway and James Franco are hosting and have done some hilarious advertisements for the upcoming broadcast. Here is one of them. I only hope that the actual awards show is this funny and comedic.

I grabbed the Oscar's 2011 list from MTV. Here it is. Hurray for Hollywood (hums). I am personally excited about True Grit in the Best Picture category as well as the King's Speech which I have not seen yet but is on my list. I love me my Colin Firth. Both Jeff Daniels and Colin are tops in my book. Thumbs down for The Social Network. I had no desire to see that film and while I am on Facebook, I really don't want to see a movie about it. Rly - nuuu.

So here is the whole list of nominations for your information. Voila!

All in here... )

Here comes the glitz and glitter. I love this awards program! Yays!

In a gesture more eloquent than any of them at the Oscars, George Clooney shows his mettle at the Oscars. Instead of just entering on the red carpet, he acknowledged the fans by approaching the fence and interacting with the throngs of people cordoned off behind chain linked fences at the Kodak Theatre, Hollywood CA. It was a true way to show that he has not forgotten who truly pays him and puts him where he is...the fans that go see his movies. This, folks, was my favorite Oscar moment this year. Unbelievable. I don't need to see anything else really. That was it for me.

I looked on youtube to see if anyone had posted a clip of it yet but no. I will post this when I can find it. He is just the best. I think he is a class act and one of the people. Just great.

My file photo:

Other thoughts:

-The coverage wears thin and these reporters are just insipid.
-Queen Latifah looked gorgeous.
-Meryl Streep is all class and could wear a paper bag and look great.
-Sandra Bullock for best actress is my guess.
-Jeff Bridges for Best Actor. I really want to see that movie.

Usually I have to do a little searchy, searching for the Bunday photo. It is such hardwork looking at these men and picking JUST the right one. :P The burden, the work! I tell you!

I loves it!

Anyhoo. I got this one on the first click. He was right there. Amazing. That never happens.

*Not safe for work, not at all!*

So I am getting ready for the Oscar's. I have not seen many of the movies this year so I don't know that I will watch the meat of the show. I am going to watch the intro part to see all the dresses. I really love to see what they wear and etc etc. You know...etcetera. It is all about that.

Hope your Sunday is going well. Cheers!

So it is still going on but I thought I would post my first analysis of the Oscars, the "you heard it here first" thing. Ya.

So some of those dresses and outfits go in the category of "what were you thinking"? Mickey Rourke is to be expected. He is, shall we say, eccentric and odd and he is mourning the loss of his beloved pet. I actually think he was well received and they were loving him there. I need to see that movie. I am really interested in The Wrestler.

I have some loves and I have some hates as far as the dresses go. I think I will focus on the positives here...no sense in dissing people on the blog here.

Red Carpet:
My two favorite dresses were---Ann Hathaway and Taraji Henson. Both showed clean lines and a nice fall of the dress. Ann Hathaway positively sparkled her way into the hall and that is what it is all about...the glitter.

Pic of my faves... )

The Show Itself:

Hugh Jackman's opener---a total win. Who knew he could sing and dance like that. He just was hamming it up and having a great time. I don't think he wrote that but he sure looked like he was having a ball. Go him! He looks great and boy can he hold up that tux with style. He delivered his lines great and I was a bit miffed that he did not get more air time. I would have liked to see him more.

MORE HUGH!!!!

I loved the Pineapple Express dudes doing their thing. I saw that movie and it was hilarious. Those guys are funny together. Ben Stiller? What? Stop it. That was so not funny. I like Ben Stiller too but NO.

Kate Winslet is a class act--am watching her speech now. She is lovely and one of my favorite people in film today. This year she seemed over-exposed and in a few too many films but she is always good. That was a tough category.

This show always seems long.

I love the set that they put together for this one. The shimmery curtain was cool. It was a nice effect with the lighting.

I know that Slumdog Millionaire is taking a lot of the awards and I am happy about that. I just loved that movie and I thought it was fantastic....from the story to the music to the visual. An all around great movie and that is what this is about.

As predicted--Slumdog won and Sean Penn for best actor. I am personally happy about those. Feel free to comment with your opinions. I think just to be nominated is significant recognition and it really does mean a lot but I am very content with the outcome there.

And now on to Babwa Wawa... *he he*

I did do a search for Hugh Jackman's nekkid butt but came up with nothing. So I have this lovely, artful nude for you from We Love Nudes. I think he is body beautiful. I also added in a pic of Robert Downey Jr. not nude but semi in tribute to the Oscars today. He is a nominee. Woo.

Treats this way... )

In other news...

My house sitting gig is over and I am home for a few hours. Doing some catching up and graphics things. I am going back to my friends house to watch the Oscars pre-show and eat some snacky food. Woo. Lots of fun to be had. More fun to dish with company and watching their big screen TV. Yays.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend and cheers!

Oh the delightfully gorgeous Hugh Jackman. He is clever too. I think it will be a really good Oscar show. So not to disappoint, I am here with some pre-Oscar photos of the man. Just to get is in the mood for tomorrow's extravaganza. Mostly clothed though one beach shot of him and his manly chest, yesh.

Hugh Jackman Oscar MC... )

Like we will all be listening to what HE is saying. Ya.

In other news. I had a killer week at work. Killer in a good sense. My award program deadline was Friday and I have effectively doubled my numbers from last year. That is GOOD, very good. Especially since I came up with and implemented the communications plan that resulted in this. I am just so pleased with this. The timing could not be better either since I am up for my reclass soon and it makes me look really good. Yayus. I have ideas for next year too, if we get funding. Have to see if this program will even be offered. My director is hoping that it will be endowed since we have been so successful. So can only hope.

I am house sitting in the hills this weekend and right now I have many animals under my care. Two rabbits, a cat, a bird, a dog and a cat. I also have to see to my little cat. I don't know how J*** does this all the time. That is a lot of animals. I do like staying here as it is quiet and I can get my laundry done. So that is nice. I got the gourmet to go meal last night and had a really good night. Early to bed and feel well rested.

So we are on to Oscars tomorrow night. Oh la la.
