I am really enjoying the blog here - so I will keep it up. Not sure I will keep up the daily thing but I will try. Again, I wrote in my dot journal. I got new stickers today so I used those. I found a bunch of cool sticker people on Etsy and bought them there. I got coffee stickers and succulents. I just ordered the succulents today and cannot wait until I get those. I am really into the stickers - I use them to decorate my entries - it is kind of like the graphics were that I used to post with on here. I still have all my graphics - just have to figure out my photobucket access. I forget that right now. Once I get that going, I might start using graphics again. Kind of let that lapse.

So today in US politics - Moscow Mitch is obstructing the further aid to the American people. He objected to Bernie Sanders motion in the Senate today in a total dick move. So now Bernie is threatening to filibuster and keep them there through the New Year holiday. Yes, Bernie! I looked up what a filibuster is because I was not totally clear on what it entailed and here is what Wiki had to say -

Filibuster is a tactic used in the United States Senate to prevent a measure from being brought to a vote by means of obstruction. The most common form occurs when one or more senators attempt to delay or block a vote on a bill by extending debate on the measure.

Anyhoo. I am all for Bernie doing this and let those guys work through the holiday. They can just do that. This is all over a $2K payment to people during a pandemic. Other countries are doing so much more and they won't even do this so yes, GO BERNIE! I guess they have a military bill (override of Presidential veto) they want to pass and he is going to obstruct that and see if he can force a vote on the $2k payment to the people.

I took another walk today and went out with my friend J**** to Alameda today. We just did a drive around. No stopping anywhere. It was nice to look at the ocean there and see the beach. We might go back tomorrow to walk along the beach and do that. Sounds like a nice idea to me. I am really liking walking right now. Feels good to move. I get depressed when I just sit around.

I did no writing on the story today so that was not good. I will try and work on it a bit tomorrow. Hopefully, I will.

I have been reading tonight and a few of the posts and issues, in the graphics world and a specific post on my friends list tonight (within the LOTR fandom), have made me reflect on the nature of this whole online communication thing, social networking and all that. I just want to remind people and all of you here that there are PEOPLE on the other end of these computers and to think before you post snark, wank, gossip, rants about specific people on your journals.

I was always raised to think of the other person before I said something or did something that might hurt their feelings. In this online medium it is easy to forget that out there, somewhere in the world there is another person reading those words you have typed on here and if you mean to be mean, you ARE being mean and you just hurt someone. Words can slay and words can hurt. Most of us here are writers and can be really be effective with language. Let's not turn our talents on each other.

Don't forget the person out there.

I am really sobered by what I am reading here on the journals. Just don't forget.

I put in a request for invite codes. Has anyone gotten those with a free account yet? Just wondering.

So I was playing with the layouts and trying to figure out headers. All of the canned layouts for free accounts do not allow headers or background images but I went to the DW styles comm which is here:

And found out that the core2 testing layout allows use of header images, background and other images with layouts. It is very bare bones so you have to do a lot of programming with that one. I am not using that right now, but once I design my banner, I will use that one to put it in here.

I thought that might help people as they design their spaces here. For me it is a matter of figuring out how to get the look that I want here.

So yays!

I saw the Wolverine movie today. Hugh Jackman and his bulging biceps. The dude is built. I will not give anything away here but just to all LOTR enthusiasts...there is a little treat for us in there. Let me know if you see that reference to Tolkien in the film. I got a little thrill at that. Personally, I love blockbuster movies. We went to them together as a family when I was a kid and I really enjoy seeing them now. I recommend ignoring the reviews and just going to enjoy the eye candy and the back story on this one.

In other news...the check engine light came on in my car and that is always stressful but my friends and I figured out that my car also does not have a check oil light. So that one indicator is it. I did check the oil and that is low so I think that is what the indicator is. I am due for an oil change, so I will go get one tomorrow and see if that solves the problem. I really would like to get ahead this month so I hope that I don't need expensive repairs on the beast.

That is about all I have to report. Tomorrow is Bunday. I will try and have a treat in store. I am not sure what I am doing about that dreamwidth thing. I am interested in it and in checking it out but I am certainly not going to pay for that. If anyone has a code for that, I would appreciate that.

To the great city of San Francisco today. We are taking the ferry over from Alameda and doing the town. Woot.

On my journal:
My journal has become unwieldy so I am evaluating commitments on communities/friends, pairing that down. I am also looking at friends with a mind to who I am reading or skipping, where I comment. No harm intended but I cannot manage this all. It has gotten a bit out of control and it gets to be a chore rather than a pleasure at times to get through it all.
