So I am posting my Thanksgiving greeting early. My friend R*** gets here tonight from Las Vegas and I will be hanging with friends here for the gobble gobble. I have been off this week for vacation. Got my nails done today - french manicure on my hands and purple toes. I have to lay off the computer so I am using this week to just take it easy on things and try and get my shoulder in shape. I got some bad news at the chiropractor. The injury has expanded to the chest area from the shoulder and it hurts to be on the computer at home. My set up here is not very ergonomic and I have to make some changes here so that improves.

I got my house cleaned here too. That was a big deal. I was having trouble lifting due to the injury and also wanted to treat myself to a good deep clean. Well, I am going to work this into my monthly budget. I thought I could clean but I really never got my place THIS clean. My bathtub sparkles, no cat here and it is so shiny here. This is money well spent. My friend J*** was the hook up on this one and I am thrilled with the outcome. Totally great!

Anyhoo. I hope that everyone who celebrates Thanksgiving has a great time. Enjoy the feasting, family and fun!

Cheers to all!

So - my chiropractor suggests that I sleep with one of those body pillow things. Her theory is that I keep injuring my back when I sleep at night and using the body pillow will keep me more stationary at night. I go on amazon and order one with a nice cover. All set.

Well no - these things are huge and not easy to adjust to at all. I find it really intrusive to my sleep. Gah! My cat loves the pillow as it presents her with another thing to lie on. The first night I tried to sleep with this thing, I think I made the mistake of wearing a long night gown and that got tangled in it but I just could not get comfortable with it and I did not get any sleep, or hardly any. Finally my subconscious self rejected the pillow and I threw the thing across the room. Unreal.

Do any of you sleep with one of these and have you gone through the process of adjusting to the body pillow? I might try naps with it and go from there. Any way...curse this body pillow thing. Right now, I.NO.LIKE.

So I have been doing chiro treatments all week and yesterday my doc (she is a doctor of chiropractedness or whatever it is) analyzed my posture to see if that might be the root of the current back and neck tension/pain. Well slap my ass and call me Betty! It sure as hell was!

I am a sloucher. I slouch forward and my head and neck go forward. It is common for those of us who are on the computer of course. We tend to lean into the monitor and strain our necks. This can cause all sorts of problems.

So we did the elocution thing and she corrected my posture. Shoulders and head back, spine straight. And slap my tush agin again, I felt 80% of the pain and tension leave the enflamed areas. This actually really *bleeping* works. She said I should visualize the shoulder blades touching together in my back, really get my shoulders back...and then I would be about right.

She advised using my break software as a check in about the posture thing. Everytime I do my stretches, I realign my slouchy self so that I am sitting upright and aligned. I feel the tension and pain leave and I try and keep myself straight.

So check yourself and your posture...you will avoid injury this way.

So I went to the chiro again yesterday morning and had very much the same treatment as the first time and my brachial plexus thingie keeps getting better and better. I had the ultra sound muscle stimulation thing and she worked the area quite a lot. Then 20 minutes in the gihugic ice pad. Then adjusted.

Now I thought I would post what the chiropractic staple gun thingie or activator looks like. This thing is the best thing since sliced bread. I bet most of you have seen this but I never had. The last chiro I went to used his hands and jerked me around scaring the bejesus out of me. This thing is much more humane and precise. The use it on your spine and it makes a clicking sound when it is pressed along the pressure points on your spine. Here is why it is so good...

An Activator is a small hand-held instrument that looks and acts similar to a 6- inch pogo stick. A spring inside delivers a high-speed, but gentle, thrust to the vertebrae or joint via a small rubber tip. Using the activator, rather than a manual adjustment, the patient’s muscle resistance is not fighting against the adjustment. In contrast, a typical manual adjustment requires the chiropractor to bend and twist the patient into positions that are not natural to the body, causing the patient to tense up. Patients remain in their own clothing during adjustments, making a visit to the chiropractor relatively quick and uncomplicated.

I love this thing!

I have three more treatments coming up and am so happy with the person I am seeing. I used to fear the chiropractor but I am so pleased to have found a good person. Halleluja, amen.
