A quickie here. Time for bed. We just had a shake, rattle and roll too. What a weird night it has been but I managed to light the candles.

Here is the last installment in the Hanukkah saga.

With the Hanukkah post. I refreshed and there the site was. Hoodeedoo. Just the pic tonight. The infamous dreidel post will have to happen tomorrow. Yes, Daniel, there will be a dreidel post. I promise.



Night 6 tonight. Six candles on the bottom and the one center candle to light them each with from right to left. I said the main prayer this evening...for the lighting of the Hanukkah candles specifically.

I was out earlier so I lit the candles late. You are supposed to do it at sunset I think but I was not home.

Here is the menorah for the night. I will post a factoid tomorrow. I think it will be about the dreidel game. *nod nod*

Alright. I am off to bed. I will catch up on all the journal activities tomorrow. I am too tired to do anything right now.

I saw The Holiday tonight with Kate Winslet and Cameron Diaz. Too long. Mildly entertaining but I would have shagged Jude Law the first night too. *nod nod*

Each night, along with last night's posted prayer you say a few other prayers. Here is another one that you say before you light the candles.

Baruch atah Adonai, Eloheinu melech ha-olam, she-asah nisim la-avoteinu, bayamim haheim, (u)baz'man hazeh.

Translation: "Praised are You, Lord our God, King of the universe, Who performed wondrous deeds for our ancestors, in those days, at this season."




Here is my menorah from tonight. Center candle lit and then I lit two candles symbolizing the two days. Tomorrow I will post more on this ritual for you. You use the center candle to light the others from right to left.

Now I will be honest. I only actually say the lighting of the Hanukkah candles prayer not all the others. I am posting all the prayers gradually to be factoid-ish here. I am not really religious, I am more of a cultural/historical Jew-type. This king-of-the-universe stuff is not really me.

My candles have all burnt out but it looked really pretty while it was going.
