I am feeling productive in the new year. I go back to work on Thursday and I am feeling the urge to be organized and have things ship shape here.

Today I did the following:

-took clothes to consignment (two stops)
-went through my dresser
-did 4 loads of laundry
-went through piles of old clothing
-yoga and mild workout at home
-ran Adaware scan on computer
-currently running spybot scan of computer

I also went to a few sales and I was pleasantly surprised to discover that if something is not on sale, you can ask if it is on sale and most likely they will mark it down 50% or some nice percentage. I did this and it totally worked. Prices are negotiable and stores would rather make the sale than have you walk out the door and not spend your money in there. It really was a no brainer as it was on holiday merchandise but still...it is worth it to ask. I have negotiated discounts on digital TV's so I highly recommend doing this. Ask me if you want to know about the TV deal.

Tomorrow I have more on the agenda...hair cut, nails and chiropractor and a nap...I will need a nap.

This is a drive by post and I am zipping off. I hope everyone is well and happy in the New Year.

PS--thank you to [livejournal.com profile] keiliss for the lovely holiday card. I got it a day or so ago. Pretty!

Well not really but we did do some Christmassy things this evening and so I will do a mini-update. We went to Alameda, CA to do a little mall shopping at the mall near the beach. We checked out the craft store there and Border's Books mainly. Here is a tip...Border's has some cute Christmas stuff at half price there and the craft store has really reasonable ornaments for trees...[livejournal.com profile] darklingfae, I am thinking of you here. I think you could pick up some great stuff. So check those out.

I got one cool thing, and you guys are going to laugh but here is the poem that went with it:

The Christmas Pickle

To start a tradition that will surely last
Here's a short story about a pickle of glass
The night before Christmas it's hung on the tree
While everyone's sleeping it's done secretly
And on Christmas morning when you arise
The first one to find it will get a surprise!

So this ornament was in fact hidden in the tree in the store and I pulled it out so I had to buy it, of course, as it is the cutest little thing you ever did see. (pictured behind the cut) I was just tickled to find that pickle!

Come to find out upon further research that the Christmas pickle is a German tradition and see this link for more info:

We also wandered around the mall, got our free sample at See's chocolate and then looked at all the lights there. Really pretty. I took a picture of the tree they had there and that is also behind the cut. All in all a fun mall night during the Christmas season...

The pictorials are here... )

Also--at Borders I bought a mini-tree and pack of ornaments that will work well for work. I am really tired of the raggedy decorations there and will spruce those up. It all was 50% off and I only spent 7.50 for all of it. Yays.

I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend. I cannot believe it is Sunday tomorrow which means the day after is Monday. I got most of my chores done today so tomorrow will be a relaxation day.

Next up: Bunday!

I have come to this profound conclusion about Thanksgiving. No Turkey Day is complete and the happening hot spot is...

7-11

That is right. Course I had to run out for something and the parking lot was full with people zipping in and out of there. It is the place to beeeeeee on gobble day. ya. I needed potato chips, I think. I took the kiddo and we got slurpies. We were living.

Now I am in a turkey induced zone state and watching trash TV here at home. Had a great time today. The bird came out well, dessert (purchased, pumpkin tart from the bakery) was excellent). Very good day.

Tomorrow, retail therapy and I am determined to by my fake crimmas tree at either Target or Walmart. I will get it. Time to get out the decorations.

So I am off and hope everyone had a lovely day. Good night from this side of the world.
