Gentle readers. I arrived home tonight, after being at my friend's house to pick up some kid's books to find a letter from my mum, well an envelope. Now I was not expecting it and so tucked it under my arm and went up the stairs thinking that it might be some health article or helpful tidbit of nutritional information. She likes to send me newsletters sometimes and has sent me a boat load of those. I do some things and then I open my social security notice...the usual one which projects my retirement income la de da and then I open the innocuous envelope from mum.

This is the second "wedding thing" she has sent so I think this is turning into a pattern. The last was about 8 months ago.

It was a marriage notice from the NY Times of some trendy wedding of this couple that I DO NOT KNOW getting married in hip manner. Oh so chic. A small note from Mom attached (a post it in her neat, careful hand)---"Doesn't this look fun. Look at how the grooms are dressed! Love Mom"

Now this all seems innocent to you, I know it does, dear reader. But there are no accidents with my mom. First off, what this indicates is that she is reading the New York Times Wedding section from cover to cover and thinking...wouldn't it be nice if Jane...and so forth. She never TELLS me she would like me to get married and I am an event planner so this is "within acceptable limits" to her. A wedding is an event and I should be interested but the subliminal message is clear.

Jane
get
married.

O.o

I am not opposed to marriage but have not met the person who floats my boat that way. I won't bore you with my nonexistent social life but I am not going to throw myself out there on the singles market and get chopped up into little bits by some crazy person on eharmony or craigslist. If it happens, it happens some way. I believe in the cosmic universe not in forcing things.

So what, dear readers, should I do about my mother?

Address?
Ignore? or
Pretend I did not get it?

Discuss.

So we did the city today...it was a real treat. We ended up going to the Golden Gate Bridge and to Chinatown. We skipped the trolley as we got tired and wanted to spend more time shopping in the boutiques and things. I bought some stuff and of course...I got some piccies!

I am sharing them with you.

First stop--Golden Gate Bridge... )

I got some really interesting shots in Chinatown...

Like the Joe Jackson song... )

We are hanging out having a mellow time here at the ponderosa. Hope you all are having a good weekend.

Mom got in last night after a detour to Cheyenne, Wyoming. *wave to [livejournal.com profile] larian.

We did the soup and salad thing at the local cafe and then she got pooped and went to bed. She got up early in the morning and puttered around tending all my house plants while she had tea. When I got up she had a full head of steam. Nagged me about having non-diet coke in the fridge and woo hoo. I love my mom. She loves me. I made her a latte which she really liked. *nod*

We are off to the city today...she wants to walk the Golden Gate Bridge. I am scared of heights so I will wait in the car. My friend Michael will walk it with her. He he he. Then we go to Chinatown and for luncheto. We will also ride the trolley car through the city. A full day planned.

Woot.

Have a good weekend all!

Tomorrow: Bunday as usual!
