Hello!

Hi all - I am here and just scanning the journals. I made it through Halloween and did not partake of candy. We had a really great Halloween Party at work that I get to organize and it was totally fun. We do local hot dogs and potluck. Had a great time. I don't really get trick or treaters at my house so I don't have to buy candy for anyone.

I got some bad news recently - my oldest childhood friend has been diagnosed with breast cancer but the good news is that they caught it very very early so she has a good fighting chance of survival. She started chemo this week and has a really great attitude. She shaved her head this week and is rocking that new hairdo. She is just great. So keep MM in your thoughts. She has a round of chemo and some surgery happening.

I am not doing any writing right now and am kind of waiting for the next challenge to come along. I have no discipline. So will hope that we get a Slashy something coming up soon.

Today I am going to a Shabbat service at a local urban Jewish farm and hope that is nice. Just doing things.

Hope all is well with you there and will try to post more. This is just a quick hello to all of you!

Have a spooky day! Here is a funny pumpkin picture that [livejournal.com profile] khylea found in her browsing travels. Very cute.

Gato!

I hope you have a safe and happy holiday.

Something really sensual about that. I like this one. This is from Harriet Leibowitz photographer. Enjoy.

*Not safe for work. You have been warned*

Waterfall... )

So Halloween is over. After all that build up, done. I hope that everyone had a safe and fun holiday. I went trick or treating with the kids and we tuckered them out. Had them begging to stop by the end and that is how it should be. Don't want any complaints in that regard. None of this..."we wanted to keep going" stuff. Heh.

At work, I ran a Halloween Pizza Party and it was a big success. We had a costume competition that I got to be the master of ceremonies for and the staff ate every last bit of the pizza. Not one slice left over. I did not hear any complaints that there was not enough either. I was pretty careful with the ordering and we had a survey monkey thing for the RSVP's. So I got just what we needed and the exact kind the staff wanted. This party was for them so that worked. Very very fun. I did not dress in costume as I was running the costume thing and that did not seem fair. I did wear orange and black for the occasion. Woo.

Yesterday I went to see the movie, Eagle Eye with some friends from work. That had us on the edge of our seats the whole way. I don't want to give anything away but I thought it was a good action thriller and worth seeing. I never go by critics on things. It kept ME interested all the way through and that is what counts, eh? I really enjoyed it.

Today is laundry chore day but I think I will be going to the mall later for a spot of shopping and dinner. That will be nice. I have so much laundry, I am going to have to do two rounds this week. I don't want to hurt my back carrying it all. Ahh well. Sheets and towels will be done during the week.

Hope you liked the dude and the week is starting up. I have a personal day this week and look forward to that. Woot. Friday off. La.

Check this out. I saw this cool little blip in my Via Magazine and I thought I would check this out around Halloween time this year:

SF Vampire Tour!
http://www.sfvampiretour.com/

This is a gothic tour of the Nob Hill SF area and run by this campy tour guide. It costs 20.00 per person but it seems totally fun. I am going to try and get my friends into this and to go and check it out. If not for Halloween maybe for some time in November. Sounds very fun. Supposedly the Fairmont Hotel is haunted by ghosts and what not. I think the idea is that she does a gothic tour of the major landmarks in that area with a ghoulish twist to it.

Woo.

So for weeks now I have been planning the office Halloween Pizza Party and I tell you all the conniving and scheming was totally worth it. I pulled off a fete that will be remembered. The pizza got a little gnarled on the way from the pizza parlour and it went across campus to begin with but it was hot when it got there.

Costume line up for the Division:

A toucan with beak and feathers (voted best costume)
A set of dominoes (Admissions Office) (runner up and my fave)
A banana
A gypsy
The phantom (our workstudy student)
Annie Hall (me! and I just threw this together with stuff I had laying around)
Vampire (Associate Dean who missed the party)

That's all I can remember right now but it was cool. The dominoes were great. When they presented their costume they tumbled all against each other like dominoes would. It was VERY good. Very Bay to Breakers if you know what I mean.

So I over-ordered the pizza and I am so tired right now I am slugging back coffee. I have to go trick or treating tonight and no amount of begging will get me out of it. I will have disappointed kids if I don't show. *sigh*

So it is the day! I have not seen many people in costumes today but I have one on. Well it is just a mask really. I had a friend take a pic of me so you all can see.

Woman of mystery... )

Dudesday is coming up in my next post, so stay tuned. Huzzah.

Yes, I am back with some factoids for you. Tis the season of death and the spirit world. Oooo. So here is some information for you to chew on. Lots and lots. This one is from Wikipedia. I *heart* Wikipedia. Includes some info on Samhain and all sorts of cross-cultural stuff...more to follow.
