Sep. 7th, 2007 03:01 pmLordy it is almost time to go here and I meant to post one of these this morning. I am trying to get back into the swing of things here but am still not quite into the rhythm yet.

So this week's debacle was that I overwrote my bookmarks on Firefox and lost about 200 links that I really like to have. I am trying to rebuild my elf, graphics and doll information, not to mention my newly acquired scapbooking links that I was really fond of. *sniffles* It is really inconvenient and no I had not backed them up and yes I realize I should have. I am moving all of them to GOOGLE and this will not happen again. I am going web based for my bookmarks. Some of them already are as my DSL browser backs up to the web but lots of my Firefox book marks are gone. The upside to this is that many of the bookmarks were defunct so I can start fresh and organized. But it is still a meh. Meh. Meh. Sympathetic comments are welcome. "I told you so" is not going to help me here as I am already feeling that pain.
I am ready for the weekend. I feel a latte and some relaxation in my future.

I am on kid patrol this weekend with a brilliant red-head. We are doing all sorts of fun kid stuff. I also have a flock of animals to take care of. Rabbits and cats and dogs, oh my!

And the contest is on. First one to guess it wins an icon of their choice. Come now. I have given almost everyone their icons and they are spiffy! *preens* So let's have some guesses.
So I am recovering nicely from the dental nightmares. I really am. I ate pasta for lunch having starved last night. I could only have liquids really and a yogurt really late. I am on the big ibuprophen and those are niiiiiice. They really should sell them in this 600 mg size. I likes it a lot.
When you go in for a root canal they make you sign this legal document. It basically says that they can take your tooth out under certain conditions. Man that would have sucked to lose the tooth. I sat there praying that they would not have to take it. I suppose if it is damaged or cracked they cannot repair it. I had my fingers crossed in my lap the whole time, I kid you not. Childish, but true. Well, it worked and they did not have to extract it. I was so relieved. I almost kissed the dentist.
I just ate a big plate of pasta from Gypsy's Trattoria. I was so hungreh. I feel better. They over cook it at this place so it was plenty soft on the mouth. I can eat normal food tonight so I am having shrimp and steak at a friend's house. She was a little upset with me last night that I could not go eat with them but the mouth was in no shape for chewing.
We are going to watch Steve Martin's Shopgirl and have a relaxing night.

*evil laugh* This outta stump you all. I owe a bunch of you icons so I am only giving the first one to get it an icon. That is it! I swear it. *stomps* I will be firm this time. *wavers* Anyway. The journal is now open for guessing.
So today is a good day. Quiet. No one bugging me here and I am getting a lot done. I sent two e-mails to my new boss and she has already replied to me. She actually called to go over my requests. Imagine that? A response the very same day. You do not know how long it took my old supervisor to handle things. Try---sometimes NEVER. This is a big improvement. BIG. I am very encouraged by it. She is bringing doughnuts in on Monday. I *heart* her!
So the weekend is not planned. Relax tonight. Errands tomorrow. Stuff. I am working on Monday because I am trying to accrue vacation time for the Fall when I am going back east. So I do not want to take any extra time right now. It should be an easy day. Not many of us here. We are having a staff meeting first thing so that will be good.
My DVD player is acting up so this is aggravating. It keeps popping open when I try to start the movie. I may have to replace it which was not in the budget right now. I cannot be without one. I do not do tapes. No no no. *sniffs* My geek friend says players are relatively cheap so....I will try to fix it tonight and see what happens. I was trying to watch FOTR last night and it was acting up. I mean rally!
Lunch selection is ensalada. We got paid today. All is right with the world. Oh and I am out of vacuum cleaner bags.

You will win a custom designed icon on a subject of your choosing. The contest closes at 6:00 pm Pacific time though I am a softie and if someone guesses after that, I am sure I will allow it. :)
There are still some from last week who have yet to let me know their choices for an icon. The following should give me a holler either here or via e-mail to let me know....claudi007, blue_blue and fairjennet. I owe all of you icons and will be happy to oblige.
On to the weather....it was a cold and foggy night and a cold and foggy morning in Bezerkely. I am happy to report to you. I had to wear a sweatshirt this morning for my walk to work. Excellent. It will probably be in the low 80's here today. Though further east over the hills will record higher temps. Those poor people. They do have air conditioning though. No one in Berkeley really does. At the Uni we don't, just fans here.
Anyway. No need to panic today. *sheepish grin*
Afternoon Edit: Well just had a lovely lunch to congratulate someone on getting hired here. Heh. Ate a huge plate of pasta and now I need a nap. Zzzzzzzzzzzz.
There is a retirement party this afternoon so there will be more food to eat. Today is just a total oink-fest as far as I am concerned. *oink* Not that it really bothers me.
I am just sitting here sipping tea. How very civilized you say? Yes, that is me.
Cool breeze coming in. Ahhhhh.

Can you guess what language that is? I will make an icon for whoever does! He he he. You may choose the subject of said icon. So there it is. Post here with your guesses. I am sweating up a storm here in Bezerkeley and I forgot to tell you all what happened to me on Thursday night. I was walking home, minding my own business when I was accosted by a homeless person. he got right in my face and screamed,
"Give me a fucking dollar!!!"
Now that is not the way to get ME to give you money. I did not really think but I just reacted and flipped him off. He swore at me again and I just walked right on by. Berkeley is such a nice town some times. Flower power and all that.
I just ate pasta with marinara sauce and managed not to spill on my nice white blouse. Small things make me happy.
I am sure I will update this. I am bored as.....well bored.
Edit: 4:37pm This day is interminable. At least I have smut running through my brain. I am trying to write a fic in my head right now. Want to work on it tonight. I just got an idea for a Gildor fic. I have never written him before. Leastways not when he was not borrowed from someone else. He is intriguing. Best do some research. I think this means I need more LOTR books. *bounce*

It is the end of the week, last day, Freitag, Vendredi, Viernes....um um....well you get the picture. I just do not feel like working either. I have been trawling for iconz here and checking LJ incessantly. Seems like everyone is awayyyyyyyyyyyy. Well hoot. Best check my games tooooooooo. Heh.
I am going to be here this weekend. I have no plans. Lots o free time. I am going to BBQ with friends on Monday, go swimming at the pewl and maybe catch a movie sometime during the weekend. I have lots of house projects to catch up on and want to do a good cleaning of the ponderosa.
I also have some writing I want to get done. I made a nifty excel spreadsheet of all my story ideas and I have FOUR count em four ideas in my head. That is good. I was worried that I only had one story in me but if this keeps up, I will have lots to write about. The spreadsheet has a summary page for the short synopsis of each story and then will have a page for the detailed outline of each idea. I am so thrilled with my organizational genius! I have only done the summary page so far and a little bit on one of the outlines but hey...it is something. At least I have the ideas somewhere. *nods*
So it is quiet as all get out here at the Uni. The students have all flown....summer session has started and the streets of Bezerkeley are practically deserted. Summer can be like that here in a University town. Much quieter and parking gets easier. I like it really. We get our town back in a lot of ways. I noticed when I came home last night that there was parking right in front of my house and that *never* happens. So it means that people are away for the weekend and it is clearing out for the summer. It will be mellow for a few months here.
It has been 11:15 am for about 30 minutes now. It is doing that time slows down thing again today. Gawds. Today will never end. I feel a stream of consciousness post coming on. Endless updates.
The first issue facing me really is what to have for lunch. Hmmm. I had a salad yesterday. Pizza last night. Hmmm. Perplexing. What to do? *ponders the existential significance of the lunch question*
Alright. Gotta go for a bit. I am sure I will be back. I am sure you are all excited about that. I can see you are. Check back soon. I am sure there will be more.

I ate a meatball sub slathered in tomato sauce and cheeze for lunch. Thank you Quiznos. Yummety yum yum. So bad, yet so good.
We get to leave early. 4:00pm. Thank the powers that be here. They have answered my prayers.
Found some lovely Heath Ledger icons. Aegnor will be much improved. He looks all cute and messy in these.
3:49pm: I have 11 long minutes to go.keiliss has posted her "bite me" icon here and my life as we know it is complete. *hoots* I love that icon. It is just so....well you know.
My plans for the evening have cancelled and that is perfectly fine with me. I feel a nap in my future. Have to go food shopping and want to snooze for a bit. La la la.
T-minus 7 minutes and counting. Gotta get ready. I will try and post this weekend so y'all know what I am up to.
