This image is of Dora Maar, one of Pablo Picasso's mistresses during his long life as a painter, sculpture, artist. I really enjoyed the exhibit of his work at the deYoung Museum. I cannot say that I understand all of his work, but it is all interesting and visually arresting.

I tend to like prettier art but I do like to look at just about everything and I have seen the original Guernica in Spain which is a truly magnificent work.
Had dinner at a Burmese restaurant on Clement Street and enjoyed the day. Cheers!

This is my girl....
Jun. 26th, 2010 08:37 pmWonder Woman!!!!

*note--I added the blue border to this but it is just a white background and no edging. Mine comes matted and I will be getting it framed
I found this print at the art faire in ***, Oakland, CA. She is my inner icon, my girl. I just love that here she is in easy pose. I have been doing yoga nightly as part of this 11minuteyoga thing and will be doing this for 40 days. I think this print reflects my inner self. La.
The artist's name is Clay Vajgrt from Cloverdale, CA and you can find his work here:
http://www.clayvajgrt.com/
This is part of the "Monks" Series and he did a bunch of Super Heroes. You can see them all on his web site. I just love the kitsch of this and it is tight til payday but so worth it. This piece really spoke to me, you know? Had to have her!
Cheers and still in recovery but you know I will be watching more World Cup. Hope you are having a good weekend!

Art share: Imagining Glorfindel
Oct. 13th, 2008 01:41 pmI was just trawling around here and I hunted this artist down because I used her work for someone's custom made layout banner. Does not this look like a good likeness of Glorfindel of Gondolin?
( Glorfindel or some such... )
You can find more of her work on:
http://katiedesousa.com/
Enjoy!

Art to share...
Apr. 15th, 2008 03:23 pmI was just poking around on Deviant and I found an artist who is doing some cool LOTR fan art. The name is Orpheelin and I am posting here for you all to see.
Sample: A kind of anime Legolas (edgy)

( More this way... )
I love finding new art. Woo. Off to go get coffee.

Today's activities...
Jun. 30th, 2007 08:18 pmSo today I went to an art show. It was in Montclair Village in the Oakland Hill and I swore I was not going to buy anything. Well, you may not know but I love art. I collect small things here and there and I like to buy local artists here. I found some wonderful miniature photos and got some of those but this is the real find:
( Freaked Out Dog )
He reminds me of Blue Dog by George Roderigue and I know I will never be able to own one of those but this was priced reasonably.
This is a Blue Dog:

Now I just find these kitchsy and sort of fun so indulge me my whims here.
We wandered the village and got Mexican food and looked at wonderful art. The day was cool but sunny. Really nice.

Sunday....
Mar. 4th, 2007 08:39 pmStarting with the Bunday especiale, it was a really good day. It was a combination of getting things done and having some fun with friends. I went to the launderama...the famous Bing Wah up the street and did many loads of laundry. I can load them all at once so it does not take that long. Zip. All done at once. Voila. The joys of the laundrymat. No waiting to load one load after the other.
Then my friend J**** called and we went to hang out at the Peet's in Albany and meet one of her teacher friends. We talked about topics ranging from work to religion to politics. It was way fun. Girl talk, coffee talk. "The civil war was neither civil nor a war...DISCUSS..."
Anyways, after that it was off to Oakland to meet the AMAZING local artist, Carol Aust. She is just...*sighs* what a nice person. We went to her house because lucky J**** bought one of her paintings and had to pick it up. *envies* I so want one of her paintings. We talked about that but it is beyond my budget right now. She does incredible figures and people and there is a warmth and life to her work that I really like.
I am posting a few of the ones I really like for you. I think some of her work is has surreal aspects to it too...
( The work of Carol Aust... )
If you want to see more of her paintings you can go to: http://www.carolaust.com/carols_frame.html
Have a good night.
Tomorrow: Moanday...woo.

Not lost, yet found....
Jan. 15th, 2007 11:38 amSo a day off here in the ponderosa and I am drinking one of those endless cups of coffee. I keep reheating it in the micro when it gets cold. Still tastes good to me. *nod*
I have been organizing and tidying the palatial estate...*coughs* and lo and behold what do I find, but a painting that I bought about a year ago, all wrapped up in its paper from the gallery and not hung up. It is a lovely painting and I do remember buying it now but I had put it away thinking to hang it when I had time and simply forgot about it. O.o. It is just a stunning piece of work by a local artist named Ed Terpening. It is of Sea Ranch which is north of San Francisco on the coast.
( Here is a digital shot of the painting... )
The colors are much more vibrant in person, but this gives you an idea of what it looks like. It is very serene and I love sunsets.
I am going to make pancakes for brunch and then go in search of those things you need to hang paintings with. I am all out.
Cheers and have a good day.

So I have done some Christmas things. I put up my lights in the bedroom and I got the tree. Not just any tree but an Italian Spruce. It is such a cute little tree. I potted it last night and while it does lean to the left it is still adorable. I am posting it nekkid, i.e. without decorations as I was too tired to decorate it last night.
( It's beginning to feel a lot like... )
I spent most of the day at an outdoor flea market, antique fair. That was fun. I bought a ncie little painting with an incredibly beautiful frame.
( Lovely art... )
So that is enough pic spam for now. Heh.
