Hello. Very busy time in the work life lately. Lots of things happening there - events and projects culminating to a mid-April crescendo. I just want to make it through til then. Then I will be able to breathe. I can do it. I think I can. I think I can. It will all work out. I have an event next week and the week after. I will have projects to do but those seem manageable.

Anyway - I am going to Santa Cruz tomorrow for a day trip. Leaving early in the morning to catch brunch at this place Zachary's. Yum-delicious. My favorite thing is the sour dough pancakes. Oh la la. So good. Then we will go to the beach and look at the water and hang out.

I am deep into this series of books by Heather Graham on audible - this paranormal mystery series - Krewe of Hunters - all the FBI agents can sense ghosts - kind of cool. There are many of these books in the series so it is very fun working through them. I love audibles too - especially when there is a good narrator who does character voices. Very fun.

I have been learning new recipes and cooking soups lately. That is the latest thing I have added to my repertoire. The first soup I tried was chicken noodle soup and that worked well - and then [profile] aglarien1 gave me her super recipe for a cabbage beef soup that is super delicious too. I really like having servings of soup in the freezer and fridge. It is a nice ready made meal and home made soup tastes way better than canned. I want to try and make meatball soup and soup with sausage and pasta. So that will be fun. Lots of soups to try. And here soup is good year round as we have cold nights all year. So boom!

So there - that is an update of sorts. Hope all is well with you in your part of the world. Take care of you and be well!

PS - I saw a really good movie last night - Eye in the Sky about decision making and drone warfare in the fight against terrorists. It was very tense and interesting and relevant to today's political, military situation. Really good movie. Highly recommend. Good performances all around and it was Alan Rickman's last film. Helen Mirren was riveting.

I could share my recipe. I mainly make things from my head. So I could try and put it down here.

I am excited about Santa Cruz. Such a great place. :) Have a good Sunday.

Easy Beef & Cabbage Soup
1 lb of ground beef or turkey of your choice – I use extra lean beef. Brown the beef with diced onion, if you like, and drain.
Add 4 cups of chicken or beef broth. Either works just as well, whatever kind of meat you use.
Add whatever spice you like – I use garlic, chili powder, and cumin – a little Mexican flavor.
Add 2 cans of undrained diced tomatoes and a small chopped up head of cabbage.
Simmer until the cabbage is done and enjoy!
You can also add things like chopped celery or a can of diced mild green chilies, just for a little variation.

Thanks! Have you shared that recipe already? It sounds familiar. Anyway, I added the ingredients to my shopping list. It sounds just like the kind of thing I love, and meat+cabbage - great for getting iron in me.

*hugs*

I don't think so but it's a really popular recipe in the weight watcher world. Lots of variations you can do too. I also make it with adding carrots and substituting turkey kielbasa sausage for the beef.

I tried it and it's almost gone! It's sooooo good! I'm going to try it too with the carrots and the turkey sausage. It's the perfect dish for lunch hour - has the veggies and the meet, it's nutritious and fulfilling without the energy slump in the afternoon, it heats up fast... I'm in love! :D

Btw, try the basic cabbage/beef one with a few mint leaves one of these days - it will taste very similar to our Holy Ghost soup, minus all the fat and the bread. :)

*hugs*

Seconding the recipe request, especially the cabbage soup. :)

I can relate to feeling stressed. Hang in there!

This recipe is so low calories it's ridiculous.

Enjoy your trip :)

I have a five minute go to soup for when I need one in a hurry - I put frozen peas in a saucepan, cover with water to the level of the peas and bring to the boil. Then I turn off the heat and blend it with fresh tarragon, ground pepper, a knob of butter, and milk - added to make it the consistency I like. Then it is ready to eat - I put mine in a large mug and have it that way.

We had a really nice time in Santa Cruz. Had brunch and ice cream and went to the sea side. Very fun.

This looks so easy. I will give it a try. I need to get peas. :D

You are totally the Little Train that Can! You can do it! :)

Ooo, by now you have already had your relaxing day...I hope it was all you hoped for and more!!

Mmm, soup :) I always want to make some, but then get all bogged down by the lazies. Darn them.

*hugs you lots*

I am doing it.
Soup is good for the lazies. You have to make it but then you have all these ready made meals so you don't have to cook. It is good that way.

*huggles*
