I am loving this Basque thing....

Post over Sunday morning coffee. Ahh the marine layer. Houston, we have a fog bank. It is rolling off the hills and it is nice and cold right now. I love that. Our own natural air conditioning. It did not really get hot here yesterday. It was in the low 80's so not that bad.

I was productive

Yesterday, I got some work done on the apartment. I cleaned and tidied. Vacuumed and dusted. I even managed to clean the office, which is where I sit on the computer from so I feel all organized now. I got up so much cat here it is amazing. I have one little white cat and she sheds EVERYWHERE. I brush her too. Where does all that hair come from? She does not have bald patches. She has a full covering of hair but she leaves it all over the place. The worst spot was her favorite place on the couch. It was covered. I finally figured out that I have an attachment on the vac that got that right up in two secs. Yay. I got every room but the bathroom, which I will do today. Not bad. I even cleaned the cat area. Did the litter, cleaned her bowls and vacuumed her perch where I feed her. While all this was going on, the gato hid in the far recessed of the bedroom. I think she hates the vacuum. Last thing I did was take out all the trash and recycling.

My reward

So, as a reward for being such a good doobie and doing all that hard work, I took myself out to my favorite mediterranean restaurant in the Elmwood in Berkeley. It was about 4pm byt that time. Perfect. In between lunch and dinner. I walked over there and got a table as the place was empty. I sat outside and enjoyed the late afternoon breeze and met a nice group of people who were there with their dog. We had a good old time talking for about an hour. I ordered the pomegranate chicken with rice, humous, soup, and fruit. It is a huge meal and I always only finish half of it. It is a nicely done chicken marinated in a pomegranate sauce. So good. As usual, I had plenty left over to take home.

Then I decide to go get a chair tea to take home and I meander in the shops for a while. The plan was not to buy but I saw the cutest things. Sweet Dreams, this clothing and knick knack store had the cutest earrings. I bought a pair that were in the shape and color of little lady bugs. I kid you not. And then another pair that were in the shape of sand dollars. Now I am the queen of the cheap earring. These were each $5.00. But fear not. My ears never get infected. I can wear really cheap earrings. I was so happy to get these. Yay!

So the last thing I did was stop at my salon and make an appointment for my spa day next Sunday. I am going in for hair cut and color, wax, nails and pedicure....the works. It has been a while and I am feeling self-indulgent. Go me. I made the appointment for next Sunday and it looks like I will be the only one in the shop so woo hoo. I love that.

I had a lovely walk home and relaxed the rest of the evening. All in all a very nice day. Berkeley is a great town to hang in.

The Neighbor

So, gentle readers, I have this issue in my apartment building. Not a total biggie but it is getting annoying. My downstairs neighbor has a really aggravating habit of leaving trash out in the hallway. We have one central stairway for all the apartments and I am on the top floor, so I have to walk by her trash. She leaves big bags that are open with smelly trash. Sometimes it will be a little bag with cat poop in it. But it has been almost everyday lately. We have community trash cans but you have to go out to the driveway to get to them. We all have small apartments but they are full one bedrooms, with livingroom, eat in kitchen, and bedroom.

When I do not feel like taking my trash out, I leave it bagged in the kitchen and take it out the next morning. I do not get why she does this. She stinks up the hallway, literally. I think it is gross. Sometimes the same bag has been there for a few days. I am getting pretty pissed about this.

What to do? I said something a while back and think it is time to do so again. Advice is muchly appreciated. You all have way more tact than I do.

Thanks for listening to my long ramble. *snort* I thought this would be a short post.

I put that all behind a cut since it got longer than I expected! :)
