I feel compelled to comment on Barack Obama's non-appearance at Arlington Cemetery for this Memorial Day 2010. At this time, when we are committed to a foreign war effort, I think it was so important for Obama to show his commitment to our troops and to recognize the efforts of those who have fallen in previous theaters of battle. This is a huge buzz on the internet. I don't know who in the current administration advised the President that it was fine to go on vacation and miss the ceremony but you know, this is resonating with the American public in the most negative way possible. We feel this holiday, we remember those who have fallen and we expect our President to be there and do so with us.

I voted for this man but I am reconsidering my vote now and I would weigh things now. I am not so sure. I have been blogging in support of the President but now all I feel is disappointment. Disappointment in his lack of judgment and commitment to the American people and our soldiers.

I thank you for reading this and I don't think there is any way that he President can make up for this one. I really don't.

He has been losing ground steadily in public opinion and this just will add to the downward cycle there.

I was so sorry to read about this and I read about it on Facebook--a public opinion poll against him.

This is just too bad.

It is with regret that I send my opinion in and this is the first time I can really say, I regret voting for Barack Obama.

What the real story is...

Based on the very inteliigent commentary and further research on this topic, I revise here. As it turns out, Presidents don't necessarily honor this holiday at Arlington--as one of the commenters here pointed out, they might do so at their home town. Also, President Obama chose to honor at Lincoln National Cemetery because of a recently fallen soldier (in Afghanistan) and to pay respects with his family. That ceremony was cancelled due to inclement weather. I am always willing to admit when I am wrong on something and I am really happy to be wrong in this case. I think I was very upset in this case. Here is a link to what happened at Lincoln:

President Obama is returning to DC to deliver his address.

I am a much happier camper now and will be sending in another comment to the White House. You can bet on that. Cheers!
