I have sent my story off to my brave beta [livejournal.com profile] khylea. I think it needs some work and hope she will have some pointers on it. I tried to find inspiration on the conclusion of the tale and while usually that is my strong suit, this one is not working really. Will see what she says.

I have a fun weekend coming up. I am going to a 60th birthday blast hosted by a friend of mine from work. He is a good party planner and has definitely got a fun night planned. He has rented out a Mexican Restaurant, booked a mariachi band, provided transport (a bus!) and then it turns into a disco dance. I just cannot wait. I think it will be a blast. I have no idea what to wear but hope something will pop out at me from my closet.

Last night, I culled through my clothes to put together a donation for "Dress for Success" - a woman's organization that provides professional clothes to less fortunate women. I pulled out some of the plus sized dresses and shirts that I used to wear routinely but now are too big! Yay me! I am a smaller person now. This makes me feel really good. This organization wants plus sized clothing so I am glad to donate for a good cause. We collected these at work and are donating that way.

Random update here and I am ready for the weekend. Hope all is well with you, in your world!

......participate in the boycott!

Black March - Thursday March 1st 2012 to Saturday March 31st 2012 With the continuing campaigns for internet-censoring litigation such as SOPA and PIPA, and the closure of sites like Megaupload under allegations of 'piracy' and 'conspiracy' the time has come to take a stand against music, film, and media companies' lobbyists. The only way is to hit them where it hurts. Their profit margins. March 2012 is the end of the First Quarter in economic reports world wide. Do not buy a single record. Do not download a single song, legally or illegally. Do not go to see a single film in cinemas, or download a copy. Do not buy a DVD in the stores. Do not buy a videogame. Do not buy a single book or magazine. Wait the four weeks to buy them in April: see a film later, etc... Holding out for just four weeks, maximum, will leave a gaping hole in media companies profits for the first quarter, an economic hit which will in turn be observed by governments world wide as stocks and shares will blip from a large enough loss of incomes. This action will give a statement of intent: "We will not tolerate the Media Industries' lobbying for legislation that will censor the internet."

Boycotts historically have been a form of political protest so this is one way to make our feelings known in a strong way. This will totally hurt me as I love to go to the movies but I am doing this. There are many of them.

And for those who favor the more targeted boycott, you can find info  here.  But no matter which,  you can participate and you can tailor your level of participation.  We have the tools, the will and the strength to take a stand.

Our current one. Obama! The republicans are a pack of idiots IMHO and their economic policies are designed to sink the middle class below the poverty level. Just an observation in reflection on this topic.

I am setting up RP journals and some graphics journals on dreamwidth - in anticipation of possibly moving things over here. What are other people doing about that. I am just curious. This redesign is surely coming, an impending fact of our online lives so I wonder what people are doing.

I don't see much life over here yet but the interface is snappy, the service is better. A kinder, gentler blog-o-sphere. And I have a permanent LJ and even with that, would consider a migration if the community were doing that.

Is it time to make a plan? I am not encouraged by this article (found posted a few places on the flist)

I got mildly peeved at the lack of consideration that we as loyal users are getting. So for lack of that, why stay? Really. I would like to know what the thought is.
