Hoochie guy, right?
In other news, I am having a nice relaxing weekend this weekend. I had my birthday movie plans with my friends from work and we usually do movie and dinner for that and it was really nice. They decorated the table at Asquew with birthday flare and went all out. Very fun. We saw Footloose and I will write that review here.
Movie review - Footloose (short)
Story line: 3 years before a group of kids die in a car accident after a dancing party and the town's response is to implement a curfew and a ban on public dancing. New kid move's to town to live with his uncle and finds this hard to deal with and eventually acts to change this.
I found that this movie really was very evocative of the first Footloose film in a very good way with visual quotes and musical memories that brought you back to the first film in a good way. The male lead struck the perfect note of the outsider with heart and I just adored him. It did help that he came in from my home town, Boston and had a really good accent. The female lead was so so and I found her annoying at points but she redeemed well at the end. The finale totally delivered the goods on both the dance and the music. The secondary characters were well done and enjoyable. I really liked this movie and felt it was respectful of the first one and as an updated version did well. There were some hip hop dance scenes, cowboy line dancing and the music updates were well done. I think if you liked Footloose the original, you will like this one. So go see it or get it on DVD. Good fun -- lighthearted, entertaining and fun. Props to Dennis Quaid as the earnest, albeit misguided preacher - a good portrayal there.
