Dye-ing my hair. Just my usual brown but I cannot afford the 60-80 bucks it costs to go to the salon anymore, much as I love the star treatment I got when going there. So youth in a bottle for me. This is pretty easy and I leave it on extra long to cover my grey. Lots of grey.

Not much news to report this week. Work has quieted down and I am beginning research for our summer staff events and Fall development events.

Travel is in my future. I am going to New Hampshire to visit my family in July for a week. Looking forward to that. And then to Hawaii at the end of September on a jaunt with [livejournal.com profile] khylea. We found an idealic house to rent on the Big Island and are getting our stuff together for that vacation. If you stay away from the hotels there...things are pretty reasonable. The property we are renting is gorgeous with a pool and a waterfall for swimming. Really nice. I had heard to not look at craigslist there so we looked at a site called vrbo.com. It seemed to have rentals all over the place, not just Hawaii. Good deals.

That is about it. I think we are going to Wal-Fart today. That is about it. I am all a-flutter about that. :P

See ya.

So I have been pretty apathetic about the governor's race so far and I usually space out during the commercials but I actually sat and watched one of Meg Whitman's commercials tonight and I am telling all of you Californians out there...it is time to wake up, pay attention and keep this woman from office. She is running on an anti-immigration platform that rivals what is happening in Arizona; she seems intent on stripping benefits and retirement pensions from state workers and this is all from one first pass at her web site. I will delve more deeply. But she has my attention and not in a good way. I am alarmed as she has a huge campaign kitty and loads of resources.

Her background is as CEO of ebay and I have little faith that her experience there will translate into the savvy needed to run the state of California after the Governator leaves, especially given the mess of a budget he is going to leave behind (the one which strips any social welfare out of public funding).

I just looked at the wikipedia article on her and that seems a little flip and unreliable. I have not thrown my vote any way yet but this choice (ie Whitman) is the wrong choice. Destroying labor, eroding people's earning power and making the rich, richer are not the way to go. I also take exception to the fact that attacking state worker's pensions is one of the tenants of her platforms. State workers earn less money than those in private enterprise because of the pension benefit. I am sure she is not going to give us all a raise when she strips our retirement plan away. You can bet on that.

You can count on more posts on this subject. Apologies to those who don't want to read this stuff. Feel free to skip it.

I hope I have gotten your attention on these issues. Any and all comments are welcome. This is an open post and I welcome debate on the issues. Keep in mind that I am liberal minded.

Thanks for reading.
