Today was a super productive day. I got my laundry done early and while there I started a little routine maintenance on the Noldor 3 (that is what I call my car -- my would be ideal plates). In the lot at the laundry mat -- I checked the oil and topped up the windshield wiper fluid. No oil needed and the wiper fluid was empty so I filled that tip top. How nice it is to be able to clean the windshield.
Then I went to the farmer's market and stayed in budget. That is a bonus. I got some of the yummy home made granola too. It is a bit spendy but so delicious. Really good. On my way there, I had stopped by the Kragen Auto Part store. Those guys are so nice there and I wanted to check my transmission fluid level. My car sticks a little bit when it has not been driven for a few days. The dude, named Robert said they were too busy but that he would be happy to help me out in a few hours when things were less hectic. Could I come back? Sure I could. I did my shopping, took my stuff home, read some magazines and then went back a while later. So this fellow was like my personal tutor as far as car maintenance things goes. He showed me how to check the coolant level as well as the transmission fluid level on my car. It is very similar to checking the oil (just in a different place. Turns out, I have plenty of transmission fluid and it was not low so he recommended getting the system flushed and cleaned out. He even had a recommendation on where to go so I would not get soaked on that. Last place I asked about it wanted to charge me 200.00 just to look at the transmission. So this place would be reasonable -- 50-60 bucks and right down the street from there. I will do that next month.
So I am feeling good about my ability around the engine now. I can do a few things. Next up is changing the wiper blades as they need that. Wootles.
After that, I went to Trader Joe's (got a parking spot - gasp) and loaded up on snacks and then up to the Elmwood Cafe for a cup of regular coffee and a shortbread cookie. I stopped at Papyrus and figured out a cool present for my niece for her birthday this summer.
All in all a good day and productive. I had seen my friends in the morning at the Market and out schedules did not mesh today...that is ok. I had a great day and love the feeling of getting things done as well as learning about my car. Kragen is like getting free car lessons. They are great. Usually, my dad or my brother, Dave would show me that stuff...but they are on the East Coast. So this works for me.
Cheers to all and hope you had a great Sunday. Dinner is up in the air...either steak or something easier. Cannot decide. Hoo. Possibly mushroom risotto. I really cannot decide.
Night all.
