Hey there. I am waiting for the graphics on my LJ to disappear - you know - with this PB thing - and that has not happened. I have not moved my images yet. So I wonder when that will happen. I should not jinx it. I will move things when I have to - not before. I have accounts set up other places but I am really lazy and don't feel like doing this yet. It makes me want to abandon this whole graphics thing and just not do it anymore. Really - why bother? I love graphics but I don't feel like reloading all my images. It took me years to load all those to PB. Can I rant for a moment here? They really suck. /end rant.

So onto more exciting news. I have lost 101 pounds! 71 on Weight Watchers and 30 on my own. Go me! It really has worked for me and I feel like I have totally made the lifestyle shift in my mind. I like eating this way. I plan my week and I just do it. Don't get me wrong. I still love food but I think about it differently. This week for example - I totally enjoyed a piece of strawberry pie - but I did not overeat and I counted it. That is all it takes. I feel much better being lighter and have way more energy. I think I get more done now too. So that is all good. I cannot recommend Weight Watchers enough. It costs a bit but they have the plan down. And you don't have to buy their stuff either. I do buy some things but I mainly eat my own food. They do have some snacks I like.

Anyway. Doing well on that.

I am really bored at work. I think I need to make a change. I have my resume updated and ready to go and I am looking. Don't mention this on FB. I want to stay at the Uni but get a different job. I need more to do. Or maybe I find things too easy and have just mastered what I do. I think I will take some classes too and grow that way. Best to keep busy and gain some skills.

So there is that. I am atrophying at work. Never a good thing.

So that is all I have. I cannot wait for the AiA reveal. That is coming up soon. I hope my person likes my story! I never know how that will go. I look forward to reading the stories. That is always fun.

I hope all is well with you there. Have a great week!

Hey there! I am done with the Ardor in August/Sultry in September story! Wootles. I am pleased with the final thing and ready to send it to my beta - the very talented [profile] aglarien1. I hope this has the right amount of angst that the requestor called for. They wanted angst and manipulation. So I hope I delivered on those two things.

The final word count of the final draft is - 3775. That is respectable. Not too short and not too long. Just right.

I am disgusted by what happened in Charlottesville, VA. It made me physically ill. That is all I will say on that. We need to get the white supremacists out of the administration.

But not enough on my story. It is getting close and I am not done. This is going to be a nail biter! Ahhh! It is my own fault. I have not had that much time to write this time with traveling and all that. Oh well. I will pull it out I hope. Hope all is well with you there! Scroll and Quill-sample 1

Yes, writing challenge time. I am working on a story. I have started it and made some decent progress. I even have a solid idea and know where it is going. It is going to be tragic and angsty. Oh joy. :P

I am going away this week so I want to get a good start on the story so I can get it done on time. So putting a little bit of pressure on myself.

Here is the word meter.

I am enjoying some free time this weekend. I took Friday off and extended my three day weekend to a four day weekend. Glee. Yesterday, I had to take my car into the shop to get the bumper fixed and that will cost some money but it was totally my faulty - I hit a pole in the parking garage. Oh well.

I am really enjoying reading the Ardor in August stories and there are some great ones in this bunch. If you have not checked out the archive for 2015 you should here -

http://archiveofourown.org/collections/2015_AinA/works

Just look through those and have some fun. I am working my way through them.

It is going to be hot this weekend so I am going to try and beat the heat. Today I am going to get my car and do some sale shopping and go to the bookstore and maybe go to a movie.

So that is the plan. Hope you all have a great weekend and happy Labor Day to those in the US.

About to change my layout to fall one in a few moments. Getting with the program. :P

Cheers!

My story was awesome and it as written by Mawgy - here is the synopsis -

Aegnor is reborn into the modern world, centuries after all other remaining elves were expecting another to join them. Glorfindel takes it upon himself to protect Aegnor and introduce him to all the wonders the age of men has to offer.

There are some real gems in this story that had me laughing out loud. I won't spoil anything here by telling you all the good bits but just know that there are really good bits in here.

Go read it. Go read it now!

So I am really really done with my AiA story. I posted it up to the archive and got it totally done. I had to do some last minute editing but it is finished. Thanks to [profile] aglarien1 for the expert beta on this one.

Now I just have to worry about it now with all of that. I enjoyed writing it so that is kind of fun.

Hope all is well with you and yours. I will write more of a post later. I am feeling kind of tired right now.

More news later.

Hey hey hey! I finished my story! I was so nervous about it - I took a day off from work just to write today. I knew I was going to be pressed for time as I have family in town coming to visit this weekend and so I just bit the bullet and wrote all day. So it is done. I have the draft done and will edit it and get it off to beta by Thursday! Yahoooooooooooo! I really don't know how it is but it is a story.

7802 / 7802 words. 100% done!

Another Sunday. I love Sundays. I slept nice and late today so that was good.

I saw the latest Mission Impossible movie this week and thought it delivered on the promise of action and stunts. I don't think these are as deep as the James Bond movies with the new guy but I really enjoyed the movie. Although there was one part with some laughable dialogue by Alec Baldwin's character - L-O-L kind of over the top dialogue. Anyways. Good movie and fun to watch. Won't have a lasting impact.

I did just finish a book that I will love forever - All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr. It follows various characters through their experiences in World War II and beyond. What I love about this book is that it shows characters on both sides of the war (French resistance and German) and you really feel like you are living with these people. The description and language of the book is so very beautiful too. Really gorgeous. This book won the Pulitzer Prize and deservedly so. Highly recommend this.

So work is heating up and I have a really busy week this week - three things going on. I won't bore you with the details. Just a lot to get done. It will all get done.

I am still working on my AiA fic but it is slow going right now. I have to get cranking on that and will move it along. It is just going to have to get done. Yeppers.

Hope all is well with you and yours there. Happy weekend to you and all that there!

I am on vacation! Woot! I finished up work yesterday and I am off to Las Vegas today - flight leaves at noon! So exciting. Heading to the heat to stay at a glam hotel and kick it by the pool. Very exciting. I am going with my friend J*** and to see my friend R***. Yays!

I have made some headway with my AiA story. Here is the meter.

2828 / 5000 words. 57% done!

I have no idea how long the story is going to be but it is going well. I put it on my kindle so I could ruminate on it while I am away.

Woot!

I am writing a slow and hopefully short story here. Right now I have 841/??? words. I will find a word count meter right now to express this state of my story.

841 / 3000 words. 28% done!

What it does not tell you is that I am getting a better grasp on my story as I work through this first draft of my epic piece of epicness. Without telling you anything about the story - I can tell you this - it is slow going.

Anyways. That is the state of my story and I hope to pick up the pace a bit and write this through.

I flailed around for a bit. Self-recriminations, self doubt and all that analytical BS that goes into deciding to do the Ardor in August challenge. Would I have time? Would I be motivated? Would I be able to produce anything worth reading? But I know there will be others out there suffering along with me. I will not be alone and that comforting thought tipped my decision. I have signed up for Ardor in August 2015. I even said I would beta if anyone needs me to.

So that is that. I now wait to see what my prompt will be - what sort of story I will be able to put together. But this is fun. I will put aside my WIP a bit longer and do this one. So feel free to comment in here if you have signed up! We can commiserate together! I am glad I will do this. I will have a fresh new, shiny story to work on and a deadline to work towards. Yay!

So - if you are in the Tolkien fandom and want to participate in this worthwhile exchange - go to this post and read up on the rules and regs and then see what you want to do it. It is very fun - there are lots of good writers and you will very likely receive an amazing story for your efforts.

I am here. I got totally absorbed in Game of Thrones and watched three seasons of it over the last few weeks. Totally addictive television. I am thinking about reading the books. Has anyone read those on my flist? Not sure about committing to those. I put the first one on my kindle to see how that goes. Seems like a pretty big commitment and I have limited time to read so there is that.

Work is there and happening. I had a great event last week - awards ceremony. It was rewarding and well attended. All went well. I have a NY event that I am remote planning. Less than thrilling. I just want to get the name tags done and be finished with it. That is about how it goes for that.

Things I should do -
-start exercising
-do a little yoga each day
-meditate

Just putting those on here so I will remember to do some wellness stuff.

I thought I would post in with an entry and have a ramble. I am debating doing the Ardor in August - vascillating and wavering. Teetering on the brink of signing up. Considering. Pain and suffering?

O.o

http://slashy-santa.livejournal.com/69457.html

The story I received is as follows:

Coming Home
by Ingrid44
A touching story of the love between Fingolfin and Gildor which follows the history of the First Age and beyond.

I hope you will find some stories that you like on the archive. I am going to do some reading in the coming weeks as I have time. Be sure to comment on the stories you do read. Leave some love if you are so inclined!

Without too much trouble, I have loaded my two chapter story to the AiA, Slashy Valentine web site. Tada. I am officially done. *bows*

I should be writing other things but I am more into reading at the moment so that is that. My writing is totally derailed at the moment. I am sure I will get to it eventually. Not soon enough to salvage a big bang.

Hope everyone else is doing well and had a good Monday. Mine was fair.

Woot! The awesome [livejournal.com profile] aglarien1 will be working on my story! 8300 words after a few rounds of editing. That is a nice round number.

Agie gave me the very helpful tip of listening to the story on the text to speech feature of the Kindle. That really helped find some things that needed work. It was interesting listening to the smex outloud there. :) It did not sound bad, actually.

Anyhoo. Moving right along to the Marvel big bang. I better start writing that.

So, I was afraid my story totally sucked. Well, I am working on final edits and I am happy to report it is not bad. I really thought it sucked but I don't think it does. It might need some work to get it to final but it is ok. Whew. No suckage.

That is a big relief as I thought it was bad. I might have more things to add to it but I think I will have it reviewed now and go from there.
