Hello...

Hello to all who are still reading LJ. I am trying to figure out of the LOTR challenge is happening for the end of the summer — the Sultry in September thing. It is getting on in the summer so it is too late for Ardor in August. Does anyone know what is happening with that? I am really in the mood to write something and would love a good prompt to do. So let me know if you know anything. I have been looking forward to this.

In other news — I had a nice time in Vegas. I go there to relax and do the resort thing and eat good food. So that is pretty much what I did there. I don't gamble or anything crazy like that. I don't really even drink much. I had my one margarita at the Mirage Hotel Bar and really enjoyed that. I literally have one drink a year. LOL. We had BBQ and Thai Food and then cooked some food in the room. Due to problems with our suite, I was able to negotiate a serious discount with the hotel and we saved some money there. So that was all good. I love saving money. Minor inconveniences at hotels can turn into major savings on your bill. Keep track of that stuff and ask for money off at check out. It will pay off.

Anyhoo. Work is going well and that is just a thing. I am a little bored with it but we have a new VP and I really like her a lot. She does good things for the world and has a nice way about her. I am looking forward to seeing the changes that she will make for our division. She has good mojo.

I am watching this debate and find myself getting really annoyed at the state of American politics. I can't help but feel that the Democrats could really blow it in the next election. Not sure where this feeling is coming from but it is just a feeling. I don't like Biden...I am tired of the Bernie bro's texting me and I have no idea how they got my number...I do like Warren and feel like she has solid plans and is smart enough to do the job. I don't know about the rest of them.

Anyhoo. That is about all I have right now and this got much longer than I thought it would.

Just got back from my vacation in Vegas with my girls R*** and J***. It was very fun. We stayed at the Signature - did up the pool at the MGM Grand (which is all connected) and ate at some great restaurants. Our room had a kitchen and fridge so we got some groceries and saved a little money on the breakfast thing. All in all it was a really good time. It was good to be off work and just chilling. It was very hot - I have to say really hot - Saturday got to be 114 degrees. Mostly we were in climate control and in the pool so it was not that bad but you have to drink lots of water and stay hydrated for sure.

Edit - I forgot the cool thing we did - we went to the Neon Boneyard - it is a museum where they have all these old neon signs from places that have closed in Vegas - think the Stardust Hotel. Very fun place and a really good tour with some great history. I will post some pics of that if I have time.

Anyhoo - back to work tomorrow. Lots to do there. Will worry about that tomorrow! :P

I got back from Vegas on Sunday and had a great time there. It was very hot but it did not bother me much. Dry heat and it did not feel much hotter than 95 though it was well over 100 degrees out. We stayed at the MGM Grand and visited a bunch of hotels - The Venetian, The Paris, The Bellagio - dined well, swam at the pool complex at the MGM and just had a great time. Visited with my friend R*** who lives there and was travelling with my friend J*** who lives here in the Bay Area. Good times. Good food and good fun.

Now I am on vacay staycay here at home and sleeping late and just relaxing. I am going to clean out some things if I feel like it (or not) and just chill. Today is laundry day so I will get that done.

That is all I have. Hope all is well with you at your end. Cheers!

And I have skimmed the flist. Tada! I have pics but they are not that great so I am not sure I will post them. I was not that good a photographer in Vegas. So I don't know. Anyhoo. Here is the recap:

Friday - Arrival
Saturday - went to the Vegas sign, Bellagio, and the Venetian (for a gondola ride, recommend the outdoor one)
Sunday - went to Easter Brunch at the Springs Preserve, to the Hoover Dam and Boulder City, train ride around Boulder City
Monday - went back to the Vegas Strip and hit - New York, New York, Paris, Bellagio and Caesar's Palace

Very fun trip. I went with my friend J**** and stayed with my other friend R*** in Henderson which was the perfect distance from everything. I really enjoyed the desert climate this time of year. It was low 80's or high 70's most of the time and sunny with some cloud cover at times. It did not feel that hot but it was warm enough to hang out by the pool and chill. Vegas is a totally decadent town and I get the hedonism. I see how it has its limits. I cannot take the noise and multimedia beat for too long before I feel overwhelmed. What we did was perfect as we spent time on the strip and then time outside. I think there is such thing as going to Vegas for too long and I liked how long I was there. Got the flavor and did not stay too long. Money goes fast there but I did not overspend. We did lots of cheap and free things. I gambled a little - played two hands of black jack and one slot game at Caesar's. Really, that is about all for me. I consider gambling a total waste of money and have seen people get in trouble with it so I don't really do that. I had a fun dealer and would have played more had I won my hands but I lost and that was it - my 20.00 contribution to the sin fund. LOL.

Anyways, that is about all I have on the trip. It was great to spend time with the gal pals. We all got along great and wanted to do the same things.

Cheers to you all and Happy Belated Easter.
