Today I have to go to the memorial service of my co-worker who died of cancer a few months ago. She was the one who hired me here and mentored me when I started working here. It is hard to recognize that she is gone. She was a wonderful person, an ardent SF Giants fan and she had a strong infectious laugh. I miss her and her great sense of humor.

She lived well. Rest in peace, CS. Thoughts for you and your generous spirit.

I just found out today that CS, my good friend and colleague passed away last night, losing her struggle with breast cancer. She is the one who hired me at UC Berkeley and mentored me for years here. I am having trouble feeling quite anything and I am sure the feelings will come soon enough. She worked here for more than 40 years and contributed to the life of the campus. I learned a lot from her and she had a wicked sense of humour.

I will miss her a lot and I am glad she is no longer in pain. Cancer is a cruel disease and I am sorry that she had to go through that.

I am not up for comments on this as I don't want to go back and forth about it. I appreciate your thoughts as always and know you are there. Thank you for reading. Spare a thought for her spirit and have a laugh. She loved to laugh and tell a good story.

Here is to her.

On the passing of Steve Jobs.

His work will live on, I think. I think he has revolutionized computers and left a strong legacy. He was known as an original thinker.

I knew he was sick and was sad to hear of his death today.

Hats off to him.

As I was walking to an appointment after work, I got a phone call from a friend at work. He never calls me after work but today he did. He gave me this news -- a mutual friend of ours had died suddenly last weekend. She was someone we both worked with for years and counted as a friend. I was stunned. The details are not clear but she was driving with her kid in the car and had a sudden onset of something. She managed to pull the car over and not have an accident but she died suddenly.

I am so saddened by this news and will go to the memorial service which is Saturday.

You have to live every moment, just goes to show. Disabling comments as this is just to post and I not really up for comments on this.

The passing of an icon. I prefer to remember her like this.
