So, following up from my post from last night. It was so good to see my cousin J last night. We met at her hotel near Chinatown SF. She was staying at this really cute chic and kitschy place called the Triton (a Kimption Hotel) which was right near the gate into Chinatown, very fun. All cool couches and interesting wall paper and there was a very well trained hotel dog in the lobby. They let the staff member bring his dog to work! Very cool.

We went to a spanish restaurant near there called B44 and their specialty was paella...big iron pans of paella --- so good that I ate my whole portion and I never finish meals now but this was that good. We started out with an order of mussels. We did the whole deal and had cava cake for dessert with some really nice decaf coffee.

You know how with some people, the years melt away and it is like no time has passed? Well it was like that with J. We could talk and talk and it was totally comfortable. We talked about our lives, the family and her stuff. Really give and take, both of us asking questions and all that. I totally forgot to take a picture but that is ok. We even have a plot going forward for some kind of family reunion and all that for some time coming up. Probably an East Coast thing but she will be fun to plan that with. After eating, we did a little shopping in Chinatown before they all the shops closed and that was fun. She got some gifts and I got my Loki cat for prosperity. :)

So yays! Good time and I really am so glad that we got together!

Happy Chinese New Year to one and all!

So my cousin, JB formerly JJ called this week and we are going to get together. I have not seen her in about 15 years when last we had a get together. We used to spend lots of time together when we were kids and her dad...my uncle D had a chicken farm in western Mass. Lots of fun hanging around on the farm and all that. Good memories. Now we are all grown up. She has kiddos and a career and education and I have a career so to speak. It will be good to see her.

I will take BART into SF and we will meander around downtown and find a place to have a bite and kibbitz.

A la familia. She is my cousin on my mom's side.

Cheers and yay for the weekend!

If you read this, if your eyes are passing over this right now, even if we don't speak often, please post a comment with a memory of youand me. It can be anything you want -- good or bad. When you're finished, post this little paragraph on your blog and be surprised(or mortified!) about what people remember about you.

Sitting here eating my lunch and catching up on my mail. An innocuous envelope from my high school, I assume it is a fund raising letter which explains why I had not read it sooner. So I open it. Oh no. My high school history teacher died in December. Mr. Deptula. Oh no. If I really think of it, he must have been in his mid-90's by now.

Memories of great talks and tennis and the plant club.

Rest in peace.
