So what was fun about this show is that from my vantage point, I got some good shots of the show from my iphone. Notes on this show. It was technically pretty sophisticated. There was a big screen view of him at most times along with some graphical displays that related to the music (on screen behind him). Some times of his vids and some times of just free form, streaming things. Really cool to see how the thought flowed there. What was uber neato about this show was that during set up they surrounded the stage in what is best described as mosquito netting. It wrapped around the whole thing like a diaphanous curtain. When the show started this was used as a projection screen of flashing images to a cool effect. I have some pics here of what was projected but it was totally cool that. The opening was like an old movie reel with the numbers counting down (I got one pic of that) and then images flashed (of him and other things--scenery etc).

Also here, I have one pic of him playing to our side of the house. A pretty good shot, as best I could with the iphone. I tried to record a bit with the memo thing there but it came out pretty bad on that. I saw some people were trying it but the show was just too loud to do that.

So pic spam here. I resized the images but this post is image heavy. I hope this in some way captures the feeling of the night. I love me my John Mayer. :)

Pics from the concert this way... )

Thanks for looking while I fangirl here. Heh. Hope you are having a good weekend. I have to go help my friends move. Fun, eh?

Cheers to all.

Was really astounding. John Mayer is a very good guitarist, a generous spirit and his show was a nice mix of multi-media. I will post some pics when I am less tired. I went to the show on my own as my work buds were too broke to go and none of my personal friends are into him so...went solo. It was very fun and I had a great seat on the rise with perfect view of the stage. It was on the side but I had the angle and saw him play the whole time. I had spent a lot of time refreshing on the order page to get a good spot. Totally worth the money and time spent doing that. If you are going to see a show...best to be able to see. Yep. The cheaper seats were not that much cheaper and the view was a lot worse. So yay.

Here is the rough song list he played. My iphone is really handy for keeping track of these things, as they happen. Song titles are not that accurate as I am not fanatical about that and don't know his albums by heart. I thought he cut the encores short and could have played a few more of his biggies there. But he did play a lot of music.

Song list for March 26, 2010
John Mayer HP Pavillion

Hearbreak Warfare
Stay Inside the Lines
Bigger than My Body
Hold on
Perfectly Lonely
Assassin
--Cover-- (I don't know the song)
Stop This Train
--Cover--Ain't No Sunshine When She's Gone
--Drum Solo -- phenomenal playing
Waiting on the World to Change - with the local flava from warm up band
Testing Me (not sure of title)
--song from Battle studies --something Imaginary Friend --
--Fleetwood Mac Cover--lyric "Thunder only happens when it's raining" (look this up)
Gravity
***end of reg show***
Encore--Who Says I Can't Get Stoned?
Encore--Why Georgia

So that is the preliminary report. I took some photos and will share those and I have to say that this concert did not disappoint. I was also not the only singleton in there. I sat behind a really nice guy from Japan and we chatted a bit. So very fun. I am totally glad I went.

Other bonus things---my hotel room is ginormous, it has a full size jacuzzi with jets in the bathroom and a full size fridge here. Very great. This place is a total score. I wish I had known about the fridge. I would have brought more food. Ahh well. I like the place and it really is a block away from the concert hall.

Hope you all are well and more on this later. Cheers.

To see John Mayer tomorrow! Woot!

I am so excited!

This is the song you will most likely find me driving around to right now. Not his latest album but I really do love this song.

Yays!
