So I was not feeling the Snowflake Challenge from yesterday so I opted not to do that one. That is ok - we don't have to do all of them. Best not to force these things.

I got good news at work - they are postponing the furlough program. It was supposed to start Feb 1 2021 and now they are going to start it next fiscal year which is July 1, 2021. It is a reprieve of sorts. That means that things are not so dire and looking better. So I will take that. I had already taken a furlough day this week but I converted that to a vacation day and that was that. I think a bunch of people had already started taking chunks of furlough time so I don't know what will happen with that. They will have to figure something out. But I am glad - my pay will not be reduced just yet. That is the good news.

I am really missing Teddy but I am trying to make sure my other kitty, Bear is ok. He seems to be. He is eating ok and I am playing with him a lot to make up for Teddy not being here. He needs stimulation and interaction. So I have to be his buddy now that his feline buddy is not here. So I am working on that and ensuring he gets good running around time here. Don't want a depressed cat here. So being there for Bear is very important.

That is about all I have - it has been raining here so I have not been able to go walking that much. We lost power one night this week so that happened. It was only for about 4 hours. Not too bad. It is pretty cold for the Bay Area so definitely trying to keep warm here.

That is about it for me. I don't know what to do with myself now that I have finished my MSV story. I posted that this week and it is done. No more stressing about it. I am happy with how it came out so I hope my person likes it. I can stress about that and worry about how it will be received. So I will do that.

Happy Thursday, all. Almost the weekend. Looks like we are getting good weather for a few days so that is looking up. Stay healthy there and stay safe.

A bit later than usual but I have been helping my friends pack up there house today. Sorry for the delay but this guy is worth the wait. Here we have Anthony from Dylan Rosser's crew...woo hoo.

Here he is! )

I feel a profound sense of relaxation knowing that I don't have to go back to work tomorrow. How very nice. No Sunday angst. This is really nice. I could get used to this. I don't have any real game plan this week. I want to see Crazy Heart, try some new recipes and get some extra sleep. I can also do some things around here too and play with graphics. Always stuff to do.

Today, I went to the farmer's market and I got collard greens. I am going to try and cook with those this week. I hear they are good to eat and nutritious. Yep.

That is all I have. Nothing much going on here. :) Happy Sunday all.

For one week from today. It feels like a vacation but it is not. This is my away message at work.

**** is closed for the mandatory closure due to budget cuts from March 22 to March 26, 2010. We will re-open on March 29th . Your message will be saved and answered at that time.

A bit of reality for you.

*edit and explanation*
This is not a week of unpaid time. My pay cut is 5% this year and to cover the furlough I have to use my vacation time (3 days) and I will only have one day this month unpaid. The last day of next week is a Uni holiday (Spring Holiday). That is how it works. Those in different salary levels have higher percentage cuts etc going up to 10%. I just wanted to explain that so that I did not give the impression that all this time was unpaid. Thanks for all your comments. :)

As I am myself. I got everything done on my to do list. Woot. And new thing in the life. I figured out how to do a few car things today. I shocked family and friends with this as most people in my life know that I am truly hopeless with these things really. But...I found this not so hard. I did the following:

1. Checked the oil on my car and added a quart of oil to it. Those rags I keep in the trunk come in very handy and this is actually really easy to do.

2. Added power steering fluid to my car. I got a little help from the boys at Kragen on where it goes but now that I know...easy peasy to do that too.

I found the dudes at the auto part store really supportive of a woman doing their own work as far as car maintenance goes. They said any time I need help with things, just ask and they will show me. Really nice fellas. So yay me!

Other things done:

-Car taken to and passed inspection. The first place was a hose job so I checked around and saved about 30.00 on the test only inspection. The Noldor passed with flying colors so another year with this beast. It is good as I cannot afford a new car right now.

-Ran around town and then had a great lunch at a new place. Was at the bank and there was this Cheese Steak Place across the street. Now those are yummy and this was the real deal. Small cheese steak and onion rings was just what I wanted. They give out coupons each time you go there and they are doubled on Mondays. Nice.

All in all a great day off and now I am watching Iron Man with the kiddo. I got the first disc of Supernatural to check out. I have been seeing snatches of it on mornings on TNT and I want to see some of this uninterrupted. They sure are Mr. Dreamies and I love occult stuff. So I will let you know what I think.

Cheers and happy Monday all. It is back to the grind for me tomorrow.
