I usually wake up very early and when I don't have work go right back to sleep. We had an earthquake at 5:33 am and I was awake for that. It was a good shake that seemed to go on for a while. I thought about getting out of bed and did wonder if this was the big one. It stopped and I managed to get back to sleep.

Here is the yahoo coverage with all the details:

In other news. I have today off and will do a combination of getting things done and resting. Enjoying things here. Cheers!

New lj thing and they make it so that random users can log into your account from a comment (or some way that I don't get)*. LJ is so efficient. Guess they fixed it but I just wonder at the competence of livejournal sometimes. Here is the link to the explanation of the fix on that. I think it only lasted for a few minutes or so.

Needed something to post and thought that was post-worthy.

Oh and we had another earthquake this morning at 5:30 am. I was up because I was up an hour before that for some reason. Really disconcerted and worried about THE BIG ONE. Going to supply the house here and prepare just have not had time. My luck will have that the BIG ONE hits before I can get to the store.

Ugh. Just ugh. I am finding people at work annoying but I think that is stress. I also think that people have not adjusted to the career advancement I have made and keep asking me to do stoopid shit. So there is that. You know, the stoopid shit thing. Really annoying. Pardon the language and mild rant. Can't post that on FB because I have lots of work folks on there. Gotta be nice there.

Guess this was a negative post but I am tired and feeling well, peckish. :P Feel free to complain or whine in a comment. I will be sympathetic.

Event goes tomorrow and I am nervous. Hope it goes well. Ahhh.

*feel free to correct my explanation of the LJ thing.

One while I was at work...that one seemed to go on forever. One here while I was at home. The earlier one was epi-centered at Berkeley - Clark Kerr Campus which is RIGHT here. Very close. Love California. All fine here but my friends and I have our disaster plan at the ready on where to meet (local hospital parking lot). My bag is packed and I have everything situated in case this is the night the big one hits. Sneakers by my bed and sweatshirt and my bag has stuff for a few days - etc.

Think of us here. I have a weird feeling about it so I am going with that. Never felt this before. Anyhoo.

Hope all is well with you there.

We just had a small shake here in California (10:01 am). It is always weird when it happens while I am working. I always wonder if it is workmen in the building but no, that was an earthquake. It went on for some minutes and shook the building, cubicles and desks. Not to be outdone by the East Coast folks there. All is well here.

a 7.4 this time and they are expecting a tsunami again. My thoughts for those there and the Japanese at this time of emergency.

Bless them, bless them.

Also prayers for Mexico where there was also an earthquake too.

And no I don't mean that...although...heh.

EARTHQUAKE!!!!

My boss and I just wigged out here...

It rippled through the building. Kind of like a wave, if you can imagine that.

This is not good.

Edit with the details:
3.4 in magnitude
epicenter Oakland, CA

That is one town over. *gah*

It is the 17th anniversary of the Loma Prieta earthquake. That happened in 1989, five years before I moved here but every calls that the last "big one" here. Time for a factoid.

Loma Prieta Factoid... )

This earthquake is never far from people's minds here so I thought I would post something about it. This is why I freak out when the little quakes hit. O.o

Fear not: Dudesday post is next.

___ Avenue Homeless Person
Berkeley, CA

I was out of change on my way home tonight and said sorry to a homeless person when I could not give him some change. This is what he said. It is my new motto. I really love that he said that. He was a bright shining moment in the day.

Later that night....EARTHQUAKE. 5:50 or so. Just about a 2.something. Not much but was online with people and a little wigged out.

Just a mild freak out today. About 45 minutes ago we had a little earthquake. It seems as though the fault line is very active. I live in Berkeley, CA right along the Hayward Fault line (pictured below). I must be frigging crazy.
