Now, I must have logged into LJ from this location a million times (like all the time). What gives with the new security from LJ. Duh.

They've done that to me when Red went in to fix something on a custom theme, which I found kind of reassuring. Did you use a different device than usual? Areas of my internet banking got frozen the first time I logged in from my phone -- was not pleased!

Same computer as usual from work. I guess I am reassured that they are doing this but it was surprising. LOL. LJ all on alert all of a sudden!

yeah lj has been ridiculous with the security lately. I got a message everytime i posted for about a week telling me that my password wasn't good enough because it didn't have a capital letter in it. Without flat out saying my password...i have letters, numbers and special characters and my password is very long, I don't think anyone will hack it and even if they do they aren't going to find much, my credit card isn't linked and i don't post personal data.

Russian LJ is evidently very paranoid!

Just happened to me, I had to log back into LJ, Chrome must have updated and logged me out. Within seconds of logging back in, I had an email pop up in my inbox with the same message.

At least they're trying, but good grief, I've been using this machine for a week now...Where were you last week when I first logged into LJ on this machine.....

I guess I don't mind in case my account was hacked.

I agree, it wouldn't be such a bother if there was an unauthorized log-in. But I've had to log back in 2x this morning alone, and they e-mailed me both times, the same email...

But I think when there's been 3 log in attempts, from same IP, and the first 2 times I didn't do anything, it would learn that it is indeed okay.
Thanks livejournal for being hyper aware and for sending me more emails than absolutely necessary.

Okay.. so I am not the only one who got this stupid alert. I'm looking at the thing going, what?! I just changed my password too, I ain't changing it again lol at least for a week. I try to change it at least once a week given often times I log in from my mom's phone (and hate that) but this whole thing with LJ is bullshit. I told another LJ friend if it wasn't for the awesome people and love passes in comms I have I'd have been long gone from LJ but it's my awesome friends that keep me coming back :)

But this is so stupid.

I guess it is better that they do this kind of thing so we are not hacked but really...I always sign on from there.

Someone logged into my FB from Russia a few months ago - same thing - had to put a tighter pswd on it.

Happens all the time (not just LJ, FB too) if you'd had to restart internet explorer, for example.

Its stupid. I had three separate emails for logging in through one pc - and I wasn't even using a dynamic ip!! These changes to the posting page (which coincidentally stops me from posting using that page from my phone) and he friends page are driving me bonkers. I'm glad I didn't invest in a perm account.

Haha, icon love!! :)

I know. Too bad I have a perm account. I got it years ago. Seemed like a good idea at the time.

I got one of those, too! A friend of mine was helping me with my journal. Thing is, she has been doing it for how many years now? *shakes head*

Seems like a new security measure and maybe not so bad.
