Tonight - Earth Hour - 8:30 - 9:30 pm!

Today is! March 26 8:30 - 9:30 pm is Earth Hour. The idea is that you switch off all non-essential appliances, lights and powered items to help the planet. Think about doing your part and taking part.

Feel free to repost this and pass it on. An hour can mean alot. The hour is to take place at your local time, and is not timed to the international clock. So where ever you are, turn off the lights etc at 8:30 - 9:30 pm your time on March 26.

Missed Earth Hour this year. I've enjoyed being part of it before, but husband was getting ready for work - switching off the power seemed a bit like entertaining a death wish. Next year.

Gets the message across.

It is all about what you can do and not an all or nothing thing. Some is better than nothing but this is just the spirit of it and community of the world and the idea that each of us makes a difference and an impact.

We are heading into it in a few minutes and I see people on the street now. Very exciting. Too bad things got in the way for you but they were careful to say "all unnecessary appliances" and leave it open to interpretation.

Archbishop Tutu was one of the original promoters of the idea, so as a nation those of us who have television have been persuaded, coerced and guilted into doing our part from the start (he's very hard to say no to, lol) -- though this year it coincided with a vital soccer match between us and Egypt so there were a lot of people watching tv by candlelight *shrugs*

That is great and they would have defined their TVs as an essential appliance. I can picture that. I did not know that and he is a great man. :)
