I am not kidding and my work study student plays! How cool is that! I am all geared up to go see Harry Potter this weekend. Yayus. But get a load of this article with the local flavor. The kids are playing quidditch here at Cal. Hell Harvard has a team, this has got to be serious. Go them!

As far as the "snitch" is concerned...they use a live person, usually a track and field person who runs around being that. LOL. I mean... L-O-L.

Woot.

Saw a clip of it on TV news. Those brooms looked really silly, but then I'm not much of a HP fan. Maybe if someone motorised them --- like that little portable helicopter in that Bond movie (don't ask me which Bond movie, they all run together in my head)

Well, it is really like they are live action role playing...that is what I find really cool about this. They are actually thinking of going official with this to the NCAA (collegiate athletic association). Too funny.

I just think this is hilarious. Role playing is what it is.

Lol, I can just see the person in an interview.

Interviewer: "So what sport and position did you play in college?"

Interviewee: "Quidditch, and I was the snitch!"

Too true! LOL. I think the article was good and this is pretty widespread nationally and internationally. Not just a few kiddos playing this...it is like all over the place. Some mention of the NCAA getting involved in this.

It makes me happy to think of that.

I saw something about that out of the corner of my eye on the NYC local news last week. I was in a public place with a misbehaving little boy, so I couldn't really follow up and then forgot about it later. Apparently, there was a Muggle Quidditch match somewhere last weekend in NYC. They were stumbling around on brooms like kids on those little hobby horses on a stick. I agree it is kind of silly without real flying. They need a little magic. But, hey, it is kind of cool in a very ridiculous way.

Well ya. I think there is a lot of imagination involved in this and a bit of LARPING there.

Pretty cool tho. :)

I am all for having fun and this sounds like a hoot. It would be great to watch, for a short time. I still think it would be better in the air.

I'm being ridiculous. The air in New York City is probably not safe, what with pollution, pigeons and god only knows what else!

They might get hit by a low flying airplane! O.o

I think the fictitious quidditch is a really exciting and fun to watch game, albeit hard to follow. I never actually could figure out the rules or where the snitch was at any given time.

It is fun to talk about these things.
