That'll do.....
Jul. 7th, 2006 07:23 amIt is a truth universally acknowledged, that if you live in California, you must have a car. That is just it. So I have been without a car for weeks. It is not to be borne. I had arranged to buy a friend's car but he was going to wait for the 2007 models of the Passat (VW) and I was resigned to go through until August without wheels and burden the good graces of my friends.
Well frabjous day! He bought a 2006 in a different color and drove it home 2 nights ago. I got the little car last night. Well it is not so little. The big thing for me is that it has a stereo that works and I can play CD's in it. **** and I went for a bite to eat after we did all this official sound paperwork that we totally made up....bill of sale and payment contract and stuff like that....this paperwork took hours and we worked up a good appetite. We found a nice place to have pork chops and mashed potatoes nearby. Yet I digress.
So I drove it home, rocking out to my favorite CD of the moment---Rhett Miller's, Instigator. I was singing out the window at the top of my lungs, scaring the natives. He he he. I love doing that. I am a total sing-in-the-shower-or-the-car type of person. People would look at me as I passed. I am sure I was giving them a nice little evening show there. He he he. Right on my very own street.
This morning I am off to the DMV (Department of Motor Vehicles) to get it registered and all legal. I will handle it all. First thing is to get it smogged at the mechanic and go from there.
Soooo. I am mobile.
Here is a picture of a Ford Tempo not the very car...but you get the idea....

This is the first American car and the first automatic car I have ever owned. I *will* adjust. I am already planning on saving up for a new VW in a few years when finances permit. But as the farmer says in "Babe"...."That'll do pig..."
