Howdy...

It is the weekend and I am having a relaxing time of it. My plans last night cancelled and so I did not go to the movies last night. I was supposed to go see Malificent. Oh well. I will see that soon. I hope to go before it is out of the theatre. I will likely get to that this week.

I have spent the last two weeks binge watching Orange is the New Black. Really good show. It is about a middle-upper class woman who spends 15 months in a minimum security prison. Loosely based on her memoir of the same name, the show is a compelling portrayal of prison life. Piper Kerman - who wrote the book - made the point that the United States has the largest prison population in the world so inmates are a significant percentage of our population. The Netflix series is much more dramatic than the book and there are major differences between the book and the series but both are very good. I am now reading the memoir and find it also very interesting.

I was somewhat bereft when I finished Orange is the New Black - that kind of sad feeling you get when you finish a really good book. But now I am on to watching House of Cards - also on Netflix. Who knew Netflix did such good programming? Impressive.

So on to reality - work is a little boring right now which is ok with me. It is summer at the Uni and it is quiet. We have a new Assistant Dean starting in August so that will be an adjustment. I am going to take a vacation sometime so have to work on that. But I am doing background and catch up work. I have to have a review this summer and think that my current supervisor does not know anything about what I do. So how well can that go. Not great. I will stay positive. I think the best thing to do is for me to write my review and let him have input. That will work.

I am going to start exercising. Walking is what I want to do. The weather is so nice and I have a good walk route that I can do. I will listen to audible books while I go walking. So that is what I will do. I need to get going on it. Time is wasting.

I am going to LA for July 4 and will see [personal profile] aglarien. Very excited about that. Woot.

That is about all I have here. Hope all is well with you and that you are having a good summer (or winter depending on where you are).

Cheers.

You might also enjoy Lilyhammer :) It was Netflix's first series. Exclusive programming is the new thing so Hulu and other networks will also eventually have their own shows too, just like HBO and AMC do. Keep an eye out!

I need to start exercising too. But thinking of buying some exercise equipment for the home. A stationary bike or something...

I will check that one out. I am in the middle of House of Cards. I can only binge watch one at a time. LOL.

I will say hellos! Not heard of that one. Netflix has lots of good things planned. I am going to keep my eye on it.

You're seeing Agie? So jealous! You guys are going to have a lot of fun. :)

Our netflix streaming is weird. It keeps cutting out on us, so we don't do a whole lot of that. I do want to watch both of those shows, though.

I am seeing Agie. I am totally excited. We will miss you, chica. :(

It stops and starts for me sometimes too. I have to restart my browser sometimes to get it to show for me but I am determined to get it to go. Both shows are really good. Absorbing. :)

Love Orange is the New Black and House of Cards. Funny how there seems to be a kind of slump and then suddenly a whole bunch of good-to-watch things arrive.

Malificent -- I've heard good and I've heard bad, nothing in between. Be interested to hear what you think of it.

Both of those are so good! I just started House of Cards - right when I finished Orange. I love them both and they are so different. I am reading the memoir that Orange is based on and find it really good too but very different than the show. The show is more dramatic and is a fictionalized version of the memoir.

I have to see Malificent in the theater. I am determined. I will be bummed out if I miss it! My plans keep getting cancelled on that. I wonder if the fates are against me on this one.

I need to start walking too! Becky and I plan to hoof it around the housing complex loop this summer and maybe a few Niqually nature walk walks. Fun nd good for us!

Things have rather calmed down at work except for the funeral & wedding stuff. Would you believe the pastor put a funeral on the 4th? Ugh.

That sounds nice. I like to walk up into the Berkeley Hills. Very pretty. My walking partner broke her foot so I will have to go it alone for a while. But I will start this week. I am going to!

I cannot believe there is a funeral on the 4th. No way!

The first thing I thought was, maybe it's a military higher up. But no... an elderly lady, someone's mom. Maybe she was just uber patriotic?

At least it's not in the evening. But we often go to the coast for the day on the 4th. Guess not! Harumph.

I wondered if it was a military person. Huh.

Yay for having a relaxing weekend :)

A lot of people seem impressed with Orange. Glad to hear you enjoyed it too :)

Aw, boring work is boring, though it is nice to get a lull to catch your breath! :)

Walking, yes, I need to do some of that myself! :) Which audible books will you listen to, do you think?

Yay for seeing Aglarien! Have fun!

*lots of hugs*

I caught up on some sleep and then blew it last night by staying up too late. I am exhausted today. LOL. I will catch up again tonight.

I am just looking for things to complain about. Soon enough work will be busy. I have some summer projects coming up right away. This lull is short lived.

Audibles. --Right now I am listening to The Iron Druid Chronicles - Agie recommended those and they are so good. I am loving those. Highly recommend. I have a bunch on the queue - some Karen Marie Moning - and Dracula there.

I am super excited to see Agie. Yays!

MALEFICENT will be FUN! :)

I hate reality most of the time. *sigh* Good going with your review writing.

Ms. Agie! YAY! Y'all have a great time. :)

I am looking forward to Malificent. Angeline looks gorgeous in the trailers.

Reality is overrated. I better start on my review. I do have about 6 weeks to get it done. It is not due until August - so lots of time.

I am very excited to see Agie. Yays!
