Tonight there will be zombies!

I am going to see World War Z tonight. I am in zombie heaven. I just finished the book on my lunch hour and really loved it - it was an oral history of this great zombie war and structured in an ever shifting POV of first person account interviews. Just really great stuff. I have heard that the movie is totally different which has me somewhat worried. They even changed what they nickname the zombies in the film - filmverse they call them ZEKES and in the book they call them ZACK. Not sure of the reason for that very basic change but it is there. I also have listened to the award winning audible book which was a very abridged version of the book - and it was stellar. So I am really into this one. I am seriously worried about the disappointment factor but I read the LA Times review and they seemed to like it and it stands up as a movie. They did also say that it is very different than the book.

I am sure I will post a follow up on this one. I am going to leave myself open to the movie being a different story and having very little relation to the book - but for the over arching topic of zombies. I think if I accept this now, I will be better off as I view the film. Okie. Just putting this out there.

I tried reading the book and I just couldn't get into it. I am hoping the movie is better, for me anyway.

I really loved the book and recommend the audible as it is abridged and very well done. The movie is totally different and stands as a good zombie thing in its own right. I find they are really separate works. I like them both actually.

Well, the movie is a totally different story than the book. They almost don't relate but for the title.

I've had another friend say the same thing earlier. She eas disappointed in the movie and had been hoping to see certain things from the book

I'm stil lloking forward to seeing the movie..I'm supposed to see it with Melethen when I'm in KY just not sure my daughter can handle seeing it on the big screen lol

I was hoping to see more from the book. It surprised me how little there was from it. I still think it makes a good movie but wonder how they can say it is really based on the book when they used so little of it. I guess they bought the rights to that title etc.

It is pretty scary in parts with really fast moving zombies. Not much blood and guts so not so bad in that way. But scary creepy in a way.

Alyssa really wants to see it but I might have her zombie tested before.. I know a few good zombie movies and if she can handle those this one shouldn't be a problem lol

That is so funny. I think other zombie films are worse than this one. This one had very little gore to it. No blood and guts at all. It was rated PG13. I think World War Z is easier than other zombie films to take. All the zombie killing happens below the angle of the camera and you don't see anything. I think the other movies would be harder for her to take.

She's watched a few with me so far.. Shaun of the dead, zombieland... figured I'd start her with the more comical ones first lol she's been okay so far... scream 4 scared her last night so my child is weird lol 28 days is up next... and the probbaly a few comedy movis lol
