I thought I would post. I am recovering from a bout of food poisoning that I got at a Mexican restaurant yesterday. Middle of the night - sprint to the bathroom kind of thing. Augh. I love divey restaurants but this was a little too divey. Horrible. I wrote a scathing yelp review to make myself feel better. What do you do? Do you call them to tell them that you got sick or notify someone about it? I clearly got sick from the food at this specific restaurant.

I saw the movie After Earth and found it much better than its horrible reviews would have led me to believe. I liked it and bought the sci fi premise. I accepted it and found myself interested through the whole movie. Not a great movie but not as bad as the reviews said it was. I give it a pass. I like Will and Jaden Smith and enjoyed them acting together. So there. It did get panned in the LA Times and on Rotten Tomatoes so be aware of that. I am glad I saw it anyway.

I went to see Star Trek - Into Darkness again and wowie - it is almost better on the second viewing. Love this movie. I got more emotional in parts and found myself all teary at certain moments. I am really a fan of this franchise more so than other Star Trek series. I like the production value of these movies and they pack a punch on the action. If you have not seen this one, go see it. Love this. I am more into Benedict Cumberdudes performance in this though he still is not very Khan-esque.

In other news - I have no other news. I went to the pool on Saturday and we froze. It was cold.

Actually, I think you are supposed to call them if you get sick. Or you can call the health department. I would call the restaurant and tell them what you had. If others got sick, too, it could lead to a lawsuit and they won't want that, so they'll probably check their ingredients to make sure they're still safe.

Thanks for this comment! I reported it to the restaurant and am checking the city's website to see if there is a reporting number there. The manager was very nice and concerned. No one else called about their service last night so maybe I just got a bad plate. Hopefully that was it.

Good points. I have never gotten food poisoning from a restaurant before - well maybe a bad batch of clams in NE. Huh.

Ugh, you poor thing! I've had it twice - once from bad tuna salad at a deli and once from another restaurant - I was horribly sick the second time, as in probably should have gone to the ER.

I called the restaurant and then called the city too to report it. They will check their kitchen.

It was terrible. Uggles. I still don't feel well. :(

I got sick from a store bought, packaged and sealed salad of all things, last week. It was a miserable experience, and I had to exhibit at a conference the next day. My deepest sympathies there.

Found Star Trek enjoyable, just problematic in a few areas. I did wonder what you thought of the Great Gatsby - did you ever comment on that?

I really enjoyed Gatsby - I think I commented on FB and not here. I found it glitzy and enjoyable. I had been worried about the musical element but found that interesting. What the movie did do is get me to re-read the book again which is gorgeous. I loved Leonardo DiCaprio in the movie and really enjoyed the visual elements of the film and the narration element too. So I liked it. I listened to the audible as well which was narrated by Jake Gyllenhaal. Very well done on that too.

Star Trek had some issues but it did make for good entertainment on its own.

Food poisoning is blah! Really horrible.

I loved the trailer, I thought it looked so intriguing, but my sister went and absolutely hated it and left the theater. So I was hesitant to go, but I had an opportunity and I'm glad I did.

I thought what they did with the music was very interesting, because they used modern music to sort of project the kind of wild/excessive/glamourous lifestyle that was the 1920s and jazz. People back then thought about jazz like people today thought about rap and hip-hop, rebellious and wild. So it really sort of illustrated the kind of life they were having relative to the times.

My only quibble was sometimes it seemed so fantastical with the CGI that it seemed a little divorced from reality - but on the other hand, this is Nick's memory, and it adds to the mood that I think Baz was intentionally creating.

Food poisoning is miserable stuff for sure. I did report them to the city. They will follow up with an inspection. I am glad I did that.

I liked After Earth. It got panned in the reviews but I am glad I saw it anyway. Good movie. Not great but solid.

I want to see After Earth really bad! I'm glad to hear it wasn't as bad as the reviews.... I'm sure I'll have to wait until it's available to rent on Redbox, but I look forward to seeing it. As for the Star Trek stuff... I have never been into Star Trek, like, AT ALL. So I'll probably not be seeing it. Though, I was also never into transformers, and when I saw those movies I love LOOOOVED them! So maybe? *shrugs*
