See this petition about Target opening on 8pm Thanksgiving night. I think this is ridiculous and have signed the petition with a comment. I think that people should just stop and think about retail workers and them having time with family and friends on this holiday. Who needs to shop on Thanksgiving? America just stop!!!

Save Thanksgiving for retail workers. I remember when you used to count on stores being closed all that day and just planned accordingly. We need to wake up here. Wake up.

I heard about this on the news and found the petition online. I hope you will sign it. More than 200k people have so far. That makes this a movement.

Cheers.

Ugh, that just sucks. No respect for their workers.

There is just no need for it. There are 354 other days in the year to shop!

Most big chains shut for Christmas day here, some even stay shut for boxing day. I remember the outcry when convenience stores started opening Christmas day, though I have relaxed about that now I realise it's staffed by people who don't celebrate! Though I won't use them unless I must. (So far have only done so once, the year I had a stinking cold and needed a pharmacy, lol.)

That's retail madness.
Awful isn't it. Just as bad here. :(

We opted out of Thanksgiving this year after hosting it since my mother died. So I hope at least the Chinese restaurant is open at the beach so we can eat.

I found a lot of restaurants serve Thanksgiving meals. If you want full on service. We did have to make a reservation to get a table. This relates to retail. I have found many restaurants are open and full of people as lots of people don't want to cook for the holiday.

My aunt works at Walmart and NO one gets the day off. She's not been to our Thanksgiving meal in years. When Sara was small, no stores opened on Thanksgiving. It's changed that much in 20 years.

I really used to like the idea that people had the holidays off. I don't even want to go shopping. People used to plan and spend time with each other. We have lost so much.

Thanksgiving used to be watching the parade, eating will my mother's extended family and maybe some football and leftovers. It got to be so much stress for me when we started having it at our house because I's spend a week getting ready, two or three days cooking then they'd all stay 30 minutes and take off. It just isn't worth the effort and we need a vacation. So we're going to go to the beach, find a nice meal out somewhere and rest and relax.

That sounds good. My mom lets my dad cook.

When the stores opened at 6am on Friday we used to have fun doing things but this year everything here is opening at midnight which means Sara has to be there at midnight and its just awful. Its just a day and if they can put the prices that low for a day they can do it for two days IMO.

I think it is a collective sickness. I have pretty much stopped shopping like that and am skipping Black Friday altogether. I think the prices are artificially inflated most places. No real deals.

I did not know she was working retail. That is too bad.
