True Blood (2012)
Ep - Authority Always Wins
Airdate - June 17, 2012
HBO
Cut for spoilers and will do that from now on and will put the spoiler free analysis above the cut.
This episode was less frenetic than the first and less intense. Still full of plot and continues the plot lines of the first episode. I continue to think this will be a good season. I really enjoy the fast sequencing and pace of this show and the multiple story lines happening in each episode.
Summary: (in part from IMDB)
Tara goes to ground and Lafayette wants to stake her, Eric and Bill are tortured for information by the Authority and ultimately make a deal for their lives, we see Pam's life as a human and some backstory there and how she meets her maker, Eric Northman, Jason is confronted in the Police Station by the son of someone he slept with, Emma shows sign of being a werewolf as she turns into a cute little cub!
This episode was less amped than the first one but still moved a lot of the story along. Sookie and Lafayette had to deal with a pissed off Tara and I knew that she was going to be a pissed off vamp. It is going to take her a while to get over being turned into a vampire. She will feel that for a while. I am sure she will come around to help them eventually but that will probably take most of the season of her being pissed off at them.
Some new vampires, new Authority dude (formerly Elliott Stabler on SVU) was good and authoritative there. They pray to Lilith and this reminds me of Supernatural in some way. This whole Lilith thing. They bring up this whole vampire bible which predates the human bible and that humans were basically created to be food for vampires etc. Interesting idea and that God made vampires in his image etc. Anyhoo. Guessing that is where this is going for this season.
We get to see Pam as a brothel owner in her former life which totally makes sense for her character and Eric who saved her from a robber. He does not turn her in this flashback but is charming here.
Eric and Bill are questioned by the Authority who want to be very sure that they are into the mainstream view on human-vampire relations and not the vampire supremacy view. They are injected with some horrible silver stuff right into their veins but they do not break.
The episode ends with their agreement with the Authority to hunt Russell Edginton...they play that trump card and inform the council that he is still alive. A good ace in the hole there. That buys Eric and Bill some time from being given the True Death.
The very last thing is little Emma - evidently a werewolf as she is the cutest little puppy you ever did see. She looks like a husky.
