What Not To Wear, Season Premiere
Air Date, May 29, 2012, TLC
Summary: Fashion makeover program goes to studio format.
Let me start this review by saying that I am a huge fan of this show. I have watched it for years and love Stacy and Clinton the hosts. I do believe they follow sound fashion principles and can really change people's lives.
In this season premiere, they changed the format of the program to a totally "in studio", with audience format. To sum up this review - IT DID NOT WORK. It was so bad that it got me looking on line to see if other people felt like I did, like they totally ruined the show! I am serious. I checked on the TLC site and facebook - and yes, fan reactions like mine - new format total suckage.
What makes this show so great is that they surprise the person with their friends who have nominated them for the make over, they analyze their clothes and then they teach them these principles of fashion that they then have to apply by shopping in New York City. There is drama, there is crying and there is major shopping and fun. This in studio thing totally limited the clothes, limited the scenes and limited everything. And ultimately - no shopping vicariously with the subject of the program. We lose.
I was glad that I was not alone in my feelings about this show. I hope that this change is not the way of the future with WNTW and they return to the regular format. I will delete my DVR schedule thing for sure if that is the case. I am so serious.
Anyhoo. This show sucked and I was hugely disappointed. I am panning the season premiere of What Not to Wear and I hate to do it. Sorry folks.

I will wait on this to see the format of the show.
