So someone posted and asked people what they thought of graphics makers and graphics communities and my inner yawl came to the fore and all this stuff churned up. I let fly with this ranty comment. I really did but it was how I genuinely felt. Comments were screened so no one else could see them but I want to show my peeps here what I said and see what you all think of this.
The survey asks --
What do you all think of graphics makers and graphics communities?
Here it is-I am a maker too so take that into account.
-too many rules
-lack of manners in the post - please and thank you goes both ways
-linking to other posts to get things - put it all in the post, including the rules. Simplify your rules. You don't need all that.
-watch the tone of the post - most makers are rude, really rude when they post. Uncalled for
-be clear in what you need from the requestor
-again, watch your tone
-tiny offers of 3-5 (what?!)
-stop selling stuff. I am really sick of that. Stop asking me to buy you stuff too. Really sick of that too. I don't care if you want a membership to something or need money. Stop begging on livejournal! If you have a sale, post the sale but don't tell me your sob story.
Today's latest posts about offers being closed were rude IMHO. Just close your offers and don't ask people to remember your policies about requesting after you post your graphics. everyone is different on that. Personally, I cannot remember what each maker does on stuff - just put it in your post or put a closed sign on the offer. Don't ask me to remember your policies. Ridiculous.
I am requesting less and less from people because they are too rule oriented and pretty darned rude. Offers should be simple, to the point and polite. Be professional and apply some kindness to the situation! This is only graphics and you are not god's gift to design. Be nice!
Also - stop using so many other graphics in your offers - I cannot tell what is being offered. The only graphic in your offer should be the thing I can request.
You asked. That is what I think. It really is. Graphics makers have no manners and don't know how to post at all. I am really tired of it.
I think this should be an open discussion really so people can see what we really think as consumers.
This is generally what I think about many in the graphics communities. I don't get many things because offers are too small and people are rude. Yep.
Cheers.
Thanks for asking. :)
Feel free to comment to this post with what you think. I really want to solicit opinions and am leaving this post open. Please, no drama llamas. This is not about anyone. I am ask about the graphics world on LJ and it is not directed against anyone in particular. Nor was my rant. My rant was a general comment on trends that I see. No one take it personally or take it how it is - as my opinion on trends in the graphics communities.
Cheers.
Update:
-I have been banned by one maker who took offense to this post and my comment.
-Another maker took it very personally when it was more of a general comment.
-Whatever.
