Health Update...

Posting to get the bun icon off the top of my page here. He he he. Cannot have that up at work.
But I do have a health update. I went to the doctor last week for my general physical and had all my blood work done the previous week. I had good news and then stuff I need to work on.
Good news: My blood sugar is at normal range on all indicators. This makes me very happy as I am considered pre-diabetic and my doctor monitors this. She is very pleased and happy at the progress I made on this part of my diet. I cut out a lot of the refined sugar and eat dessert in very small quantities. I also do the protein, veggie thing sooo. That works. She says if I keep going this way, I won't ever need to be an insulin regulator for that. So woo hoo.
No so good news: My cholesterol indicators are high by about 50 points. So she would like me to work on the fatty foods. Cheese, fatty meats and etc. I do eat fatty meats and one thing I do drink is whole milk. So I will make some further refinements in my diet. She also said that exercise would help this a lot so I am going to add that to my weekly routines. A few walks and one swim a week. See how I do there.
The other great thing is I lost 10 POUNDS in about 5 weeks. I had weighed in at an earlier appointment and they weighed me again this time and I was 10 pounds lighter. Woot for me. My goal this year is to lose 40-50 lbs off this old bod so I am on my way.
Last night I started on my new healthy eating kick with:
Baked salmon, steamed broccoli and mini-potatoes. All lightly cooked. It was good.
So I am off on the path to health and weight loss. I cannot call what I am doing a diet, or I will fail. Let me call it: nutritional refinement. That will do.
