So I am...

wrecked.
But I have to say, I am really pleased with how my event went at work today. Months of planning came to fruition and the awards ceremony that capped the program I have been running for the last 6 months got RAVE reviews. You know people say they like something but you can tell by their reaction when they walk in the door. I knew the room was something special and everything was perfect. A few little things went south that only I knew about but...other than that...seamless and that dingy room was TRANSFORMED. Table cloths and flowers work wonders. And a good floorplan done by yours truly. There was no bunching and people could move around the room with ease. No one bumped into each other and everyone who wanted a seat, had a seat. We had twice as many attendees this year as we did last year and that was because I (spammed) *coughs* publicized it on campus. He he he.
I think I am getting good at this event planning thing. It is all coming together for me at work. It has been established that this is my project. From planning to execution to managing the press. I am just thrilled. Woo. It is nice to have a whole project and not just pieces here and there. This is MINE.
For those of you who don't know...the program that I coordinated rewarded mentorship and advising at U********. We had a private donor who provided the funds and his name to the awards and we ran the program for 6 weeks getting nominations from faculty and former students who felt they had a strong mentor in their life at the Uni. We had 3 recipients. This is the second year we are running this and it looks like it is off the ground. I am hoping that we get some press both on campus and off campus.
It is this kind of thing that makes me feel like I am doing something that matters. I even got to wear my new jacket that I got on sale. Total winner day. And now I am exhausted. The adrenaline is leaving my body.
