Snow White and the Huntsman (2012)

In a twist to the fairy tale, the Huntsman ordered to track and capture Snow White ends up becoming her protector and mentor in a quest to vanquish the Evil Queen.
Here is a no spoiler review and just the outlines here. You really have to see this for this visual feast. This is a well directed fantasy film. The detailing and fairy tale aspects of the storyline are subtly revealed. The Queen is truly horrific in her ascension to power and this movie has almost medieval sensibilities. Costumes, gorgeous for all.
Kristen Stewart is luminous as Snow White and I truly believed that she represented all that was good and natural in this world while the Evil Queen was all that was unnatural and a transgression against nature. This was clear the stark contrast between the two. We love Snow White and Charlize Theron really sinks into her diabolical role.
Lots of manly things to appreciate. Chris Helmsworth as the huntsman is perfect casting. He is brutish and burly and a drunkard but we feel for him. The dwarves were well done here and I especially liked their song and thievery.
I hope that you will see this movie and enjoy the very spectactle of it all. It twists and turns and surprises. I had been waiting for this film and was not disappointed in it at all. It held up to my expectation!
